So here it is what I like and dislike about the changes to the Sierra from 2013 to 2016.

Ok new styling I like.
The all terrain package has the monochromatic look which in white or black looks great

LED lighting package works great but I have to wonder what will happen in heavy snow as the lights don't produce the heat of the old bulbs. Will snow build up on my lights?

I have to say GM has really steped up their game on the interior. Styling can be a matter of taste but the quality is a big improvement over my 2013. Note this truck is an All Terain my last was an SLE.

Disappointment number 1
The redesign of the back doors on the double cab model. My old truck had the rear suicide door.
The whole side of the cab opened up. It was great.
This back door is crap to get things in or out.

My other disappointment is my own fault.
This truck came from the factory with the hitch, 7 pin and 4 pin trailer lights hook up.
It also has the integrated electric brake controller with trailer sway control.
Also has the trailer tow package with trans cooler.
All leading me to believe I was buying a tow capable rig. Not quite.
This truck an "All Terrain" off road package truck with a trailering package and it has a lousy 3.08 rear end for hwy fuel mileage.
This truck has a tow rating of 6200lbs
With a 3.42 rear end towing is up to 9000lbs
My last truck had a 3.42 and I thought this one did too.
I guess I will find out how the 3.08 is at towing as I tow close to the trucks limit a few times a week.
So far it hasn't felt bad but I have yet to realy load it up.

Any how this is just my opinion and I may be off a little on my numbers as I was going off memory and didn't bother to look it all up again. So take it with a grain of salt.

Oh ya and Carbon fiber trim in the interior realy. Cause that's what we need in a 5000+ pound truck is carbon fiber.
And it's faux carbon to boot. Lol

What's up with the gap between the grill and the hood is n the centre?

Nice looking truck. But too bad about the tow limit. But you normally haul over 6klbs?

Part of the design I guess.

Not sure on the exact weight of the trailer but yes close to 6000 I believe.
It's a 14' with tandem 3500lb axels, cargo trailer loaded with tools.

Weird that just a gear makes that big a difference in tow weight. Does it ride level with the trailer hooked up? Feelokay while towing?

I really like the look of the truck, and the interior is certainly a move up from before. I have owned one crew cab truck, back in 2000 and drive an F150 because of the suicide rear doors. Looking into the crash rating, the 4 doors receive a higher mark, because the crew cab has a pillar/post in the middle, whereas the super cab is one big opening.

Having said that, the 4 doors are a pain, and the small rears like on the GM look totally useless.

Lovely looking truck., what motor is in it - 5.3 presumably?

Your new truck is pretty close to what I'd be getting if I were looking to get back in a truck. Small back doors would work great for me. Surprised to hear the gear makes that big of a difference to the tow rating, you'd think the truck would just haul in a lower gear.

Well seems I was in a panic for nothing.
My Legend tool trailer is 14' v nose cargo loaded with tools.
Right after my post I jumped in the truck with the trailer and drove to the MTO scales.
Weighed truck and trailer and then the truck.
Turns out trailer and all tools and light amount of materials only weighed in at 4200lbs
That leaves 2000 lbs of materials I can still carry and that's just fine.
I guess buying that aluminum frame trailer was a good plan after all.

Yes it's the 5.3L 6spd with 3.08 rear gear

Truck and trailer weighed 4550 kg / 10,031 lbs
Truck weighed 2645 kg/ 5831 lbs
Trailer weighed 1905 kg / 4200 lbs

Good to see your ok afterall. You'd have thought it would have 3:42 gears with All Terrain + tow package, odd combo that it doesn't. As for the rear doors, one of the best features on my '11 is the doors that swing all the way around. Yes it makes it way easier to load but it's also useful when you clear out of your way when someone has parked too close.
Hope the new ones good to you.

That seems low. My 'toy' truck has a towing capacity of 6300 lbs (according to the manual).

Nice looking truck, looks great in white. I even like the factory wheels.
I like the faux carbon fibre trim. My old Mazda pickup had it. Having said that, that was in 2004 that that was in style. ;)

I've had two supercabs after having a couple of supercrews. I'm back in a supercrew again. I much prefer the solid feel the four doors offer, with the b-pillar. The supercab doors liked to jiggle around over harder bumps and I would get some wind noise also. Although getting used to the four doors takes a bit - after getting out of the drivers seat, I've grabbed hold of the b-pillar trying to open the back door, lol.

I have the 5.0L and 3:73's which is apparently good for 10,800lbs. However, I've never towed anything more than a car and trailer, which is about 5800lbs.

That's a nice truck. I like the solid color with no chrome but 3:08s in a truck is crazy. Thats part of he reason I bought an F150 instead of a GM. They've always had lower tow ratings. Mine with the EcoBoost and 3:73s is rated for 11500, but my trailer loaded is close to 8500lbs.

If I had the 3.42 gear my towing apparently goes up to 8 or 9,000. Even more I would assume with the 3.73 gear.
But for some reason mine was ordered with a 3.08 rear wich they say is only rated for 6100 I think it was.
I can say though that it looks to be getting much better fuel economy than my 2013.
My average is sitting at 12.6L/100km and truck has only 1000km mostly city driving.
My 2013's best was 12.9/100km on the hwy with cruise set at 120kph.
And I was towing my tool trailer weighing (4200lbs at the moment) and it feels the same as the old truck.
Maybe even better on the hwy as it doesn't seem to be searching for the right gear as much.
Though in town towing it does lack the gitty up that the other truck had.
My over all
I'm happy with it so far.

I looked at Ford, Dodge, Chev and GMC.
I would love to have any one or all. I'm not brand loyal and I think brand loyalty is foolish.
That said they are all great trucks. When I looked at fords my trade was not as good $$ wise.
I chose a Chev silverado 2LT which is an LT with the Z71 option. It ended up sold before I could get my name on it.
So I ended up in the GMC All Terrain for the same $$$. It was too good of a deal, I ended up with a lot of options that I like but was not looking to pay for. And apparently a gear that I wasn't crazy about.

So I hit the scales today after loading up for work tomorrow.
Truck weighs in at 5853 lbs
Truck and trailer with tools 10,042 lbs
After my load of 35 sheets of drywall 11,563 lbs
So I'm getting close to my tow rating.
Suspension and braking were all great. Acceleration on to the 401 was good not great, this is we're the 3:42 gear would help. All though if you don't need to climb any mountains it will haul just fine with the 3:08.
I was able to easily maintain 120kph

Very similar to that of a car trailer with a modern muscle car loaded. 5710lbs
The truck towes very well but the gear makes it a little sluggish in the giddy up department.

Not always a bad thing if it keeps you closer to the speed limit.
