2:00 pm EST start time for the Rolex 24 at Daytona sports car race, coverage on Fox. International viewers (that's us) can watch it on the IMSA website as well.

The Ford GTs qualified 1-2-3 in the GTLM class, by 0.6 second over the next closest car. At this level of racing, that's a big difference even with the lap length here.

For the fans of Jeff Gordon, he will be co-driving in the new Cadillac prototype entry, with the Taylor Racing team. The Caddy prototypes are the new GM-backed top tier cars in place of the previous Corvette prototype class cars.

Great action with about 90 minutes remaining. One of the Ford GTs just retook the class lead a few minutes ago.

Less than an hour to go. Amazing how close most of the classes are after 23 plus hours of racing.

I guess "Rubing is racing" even at the 24hrs. 15 mins. to go.

Great finish. That last full-course yellow was a bit unnecessary though, very much a NASCAR thing since they control that series now. At most road race events that likely would have been a local yellow only while the workers got the NSX moving again. Certainly helped to bunch things up and add a bit of drama for the last 15 minutes.

^ Quoted for truth, local caution would have cleared the stalled car but not set the stage for a more dramatic finish.

Yes it most certainly is. ;)
Post race "whining" by the second place car was comical.

It was great to watch the battles for the leads in different classes. Glad that the Ford GT won its class.

That was a great race but they really need to get rid of the Prototype Challenge class. It just doesn't make sense that a Prototype class is slower than GTLM and the lack of competent drivers in that class lead to some brutal incidents resulting in nearly all the cautions. 3 highly competitive classes is sufficient without the rolling chicane PCs.

With a track this small (relative to the others in the series - Spa, LeMans, even Sebring) the traffic is much higher, there are rarely any breaks or gaps on track. So for safety sake it makes sense that they use the FCY instead of the Code 60 caution like elsewhere. But they really need to start keeping the caution laps just up on the oval and not in the infield. Since they open pit lane sequentially for each class there will always be 4 laps minimum, but they would be a lot shorter if they didnt head onto the infield part of the track under caution.

That finish was awesome. I think they let the #10 punt go unpenalized because they let the #31 block go about 45 minutes earlier. Tit for tat for the Mustang Sampling team sorta thing. Great to see WTR get the win, such a great family involved. Cool to see Max the Axe head into retirement with a new watch and as a JG fan, cool that he was a (small) part of that win.

PC is going away next year I think? They were talking about one of the proto classes being gone for 2018, wasn't paying enough attention.

Great bonkers GT racing on the mountain there. My connection is too slow this weekend for me to watch this live unfortunately, so I've been listening to the Radio Le Mans audio feed.
