Hello I'm having some issues installing my new redline hood struts in the 1995 GT. The car previously had a set of the same hood struts installed but the brackets aren't fitting properly on the glass hood. The hood was previously drilled for these same struts also but sometime sesmofd. Has anyone had experience putting redline struts on a cervini hood? I will post pics in a couple minutes to show exactly what is going on.

The part of the bracket with the ball for the strut to mount is hitting the underside of the hood before the flat mounting tab is able to sit flush on the frame, if I were to rivet the bracket it would be sitting on an able and would likely cause even more stress cracking to the area than there already is

Here's mine installed on my old coupe, hopefully the pic is clear enough.

Better side pic, sits pretty flush.
Is there different part#'s for fox /sn95 or do they use the same #?

Looking good there. I gather that rivets are stronger on fibreglass? I would have thought that they would have gone with nutserts?

What if you put a spacer between the bracket and hood.

What if you put a spacer between the bracket and hood.

Or bend the bracket slightly in a vise; AFTER you check for fender clearance. Assuming of course they are the same side to side, but looks like it's the wrong bracket or in the wrong spot for that particular hood. I installed a set on my TruFiber glass hood, no problems.....well, not until I drove without the hoodpins in, lol

NOTE: rivets are way stronger than Nutserts, but they have to be the correct size, length and hole size with appropriate washers etc

Made up a couple of aluminum spacers and polished them. Solved the problem. I'm relatively happy with the results.
