As my daughter is attending her first big concert tonight, Florida-Georgia Line, in Hamilton it got me thinking about my first concert. I was visiting my sister at the University of Ottawa in the late 70s or early 80s and her and her friends took me to see Rough Trade. So TMC, what was your first concert experience?

embarrassingly, it was Platinum Blonde.

Free concert at the Western Fair, mid 80's?

To regain some semblance of respect: my favorite concert was BB King at Lulu's Roadhouse, Kitchener, 1996

never really put the buckos aside as a kid for a stadium concert....the budget always seemed to go towards the dirt bike...the street bike, and the ski trips

had tickets to the Who's 1982 finale at Maple Leaf Gardens but ended up couch-ridden with the flu watching it on TV

then in 1989 I was driving into work and caught a concert announcement that I thought would never happen again

so...my first concert was 25th row floors for the Rolling Stones Steel Wheels Tour in 1989 at the CNE Grandstand

Metallica 1991. The Where ever We My Roam tour. Maple Leaf Gardens. Awesome show. My ears have been ringing ever since. Saw them again on the same tour in 1992 at Copps Coliseum in the Hammer.

I can't remember...might have been all that funny smoke in the stadium back in those days.

FLG is pretty safe for a first concert, saw them open for Jason Aldean at Copps a couple of February's ago, really great live band.

My first was the Edgar Winter band at Maple Leafs Garden. I was about 14( probably around 1975) , and I was tagging along with my 18 year old cousin, didn't even know who Edgar Winter was at the time.
Recall guys selling ink blotter tabs of acid on Carlton. Scared the crap out of me at the time.

I was too cheap (mostly still am) to spend the stupid bucks they ask for concert tickets so the first concert I went to was Diana Krall at Ontario Place (free tickets from my boss at the time; circa 2000-01 I think).

There wasn't any opening act that I can remember. I did see them again at Molson Park with Danzig and the Suicidal Tendencies.

Also saw Sepultura with Biohazard and Pantera. That was a loud show.

My dad took me to the rolling stones in 1994. Most recent was Mastodon and Eagles of Death Metal last night. Probably 100 plus concerts in between those. If (and I mean when) I go deaf I'll know exactly why...
