A woman was struck and killed by a GO train near Kipling Station on Wednesday evening.
Police said the collision occurred at around 7 p.m. just as the train was approaching the station.
A passenger on board the train at the time told CTV News Toronto that the emergency brake was employed seconds away from Kipling Station.

“They announced to us that they were investigating why the emergency brake was pulled and shortly thereafter was when they advised us that there was a trespasser on the tracks,” Rebecca Rupprecht said.
“Shortly after that, they advised us that there had been a fatality, that they had called the police and fire crews and ambulance and the coroner was on their way.”
Investigators said the incident is being treated as a misadventure as the woman was believed to be taking a shortcut by crossing over the train tracks.
The train involved, which was the second last of the night travelling to Milton, was suspended after the collision. As well, the last train on the line was cancelled for the evening.
Regular service on the Milton line is expected to resume on Thursday.

Such a tragedy - especially when easily avoided. Taking a shortcut to save a little time and costing you your life.

Scary shit crossing at the tracks. I have a co worker who's son committed suicide doing this. Such a terrible tragedy.

RIP. This is sad but unfortunately was coming - I posted about it last night after the train came to a stop because I everytime I hear the train horn outside my office window I know there is someone crossing the tracks. This time the horn was a lot more frantic and continued going even after they hit the person based on where she got hit and where the train stopped and the engineer stopped blowing the horn. The train didn't leave the accident spot until 8:30pm. I've seen people crossing in this area with kids as well.

In the past 3 hours I've seen 3 people jump the fence and cross the (3 wide) tracks where the woman was killed last night....and that's only because I was in my office and happened to look out the window at the time, so there may have been more - all within 24 hours of the accident.

I guess GO's ad campaign isn't having much effect. Lemmings can't even remember what happened less than 24 hrs ago

Going to be a learning curve for these people once Wynne gets her high speed trains up to 250 km/h

Some people can't handle the truth:

Some of the emails received by Metrolinx called the campaign upsetting.
