Some of it is decent but yes some of it is simply bad.

I'm lucky enough to be at the age where I lived the Early hip hop and there was some amazing music being made back then.
Lots of good music produced from mid 80's to 2000.
I was thankful for a music that wasn't pop 80's or hairband rock.

Couldn't stand any of that.
After 2000 hip hop took a turn IMO and it became more noise and less about the production.
Occasionally a few artists would sneak thru but today I can't even listen to any of the Hip Hop stations on Sirius except backspin.

If you get a chance watch The Defiant Ones documentary.
It shows the rise of Dr Dre and Jimmy Iovine.

Iovine worked with everyone from John Lennon to Bruce to U2 to Lady Gaga.
The guy is just simply put...Talented.
Its worth the watch.
