Anybody here an appliance repairman? Or know of a good one. Though I would try here first because I've had great luck finding pro's here.

Have a Whirlpool double door, bottom freezer fridge that leaks occasionally. I know the problem is the auto-defrost drain tube check valve, but I'm hesitant to tackle this job myself. As many know, jobs take me about 5X longer than they should. And that's just not going to happen while the ice cream is melting.

Would like a competent professional to do the job quickly and efficiently.

I had the same issue; the fix is truly simple and if you have a cooler handy that you can stock up with ice, 5x as long is at most 5hrs. I watched a few you tube videos and used hot water to clear the ice from the freezer. I wish I could help with a professional but I am a diy guy.

5.4MarkVIII is in that field. He's not local to you but I'm sure he'll be able to point you in the right direction.

Kit is like 40 bucks.
And it's super easy to do.

Only thing I would warn about is when you remove the old drain funnel don't just pull it off. You will crack the drain pan. Use a small blade screwdriver to depress the tab then pull the funnel off.

Edit. Yours won't have the rubber drain pipe like the video shows it will be a plastic "funnel" and a rubber grommet. But process is the same.
Part number is
W10619951

Also the fridge will need to be defrosted to clear all the ice out of the inside drain and channel. don't use an out side heat source to defrost it. Use either hot water or better yet leave the fridge unplugged 24 hours with the door open.

Thanks for the advice 5.4MarkVIII, good tips, that was embarrassingly easy to do. Hardest part was keeping the cats out.

Ordered the part off Amazon. Installed it this morning.

What a piece of shit the original design is. That rubber duck bill grommet is gross.
