I have a body guy that will help me fix this...or i can try to find a shell to swap my parts into. What would you do?https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180128/d30a957f79a2cec7c1493267222654db.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180128/d3f87b209e160e2b1e3102736154c12e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180128/3e42fe23d8817037ef0dcd0dafd11479.jpg

Depends how the front frame rails/shock towers etc look. If the floors have holes that large I would be concerned about the rest of the chassis.

I like to see cars saved, although I do say this car will need hrs of labour so I hope your said friend is in it for the long haul and won't let you down half way into it, as his interest changes along with his and your schedule might.

Start looking for a good body

If you have the time and money, I'd say fix it.

The shock towers are actually good. As is the firewall. If i did the floors id have brand new torque boxes. Probably do the rockers if need be i guess. On the positive side, the seat support is in good shape.

Honestly it really depends on the car and what it means to him. If the car has some sentimental value then it can change things but if it is something common like a no option 88 lx hatch (which it looks to be based on the dash and OEM deep red paint)...then I say get a donor car. Don’t want to upset anyone here but it would just be cheaper to find a better shell from the southern states or bc and build from there or else you will have a 20k+ stockist fox body which doesn’t make sense.

If the car was something more desirable (I.e 93 fox, 84 gt350, even 7-up....then try to save).

Its nothing special and i wasnt going to restore back to original i was going to build a 10 second or less street car. No carpet or headliner or door panels etc. Its a power mirror manual window and iirc it was a 4 banger car

If the rest of the car is in good shape in the usual troubled areas. I would fix it and finish the car. If not, find a donor body.

^ Exactly that.
What ever turns your crank is what makes sense.

^^Yup, floor pans are no big deal, just make sure you check the inside and outside of the strut tower frame rails, as well as the forward door posts.

People were fixing floors, shock towers etc. on 60s Mustangs 20 years ago ... now it's time for the Foxes to get done! LOL

I agree with the others, if the front bit of the car is solid, go for the repair.

cheers

I would pass on it. Besides, you’ve got the ‘95 to keep you busy enough.

If just the floors... yeah I'd fix it... If the front rails, rad support, torque boxes, door pillars are gone too... time to invest in a clean roller.

Hard to find a clean fox that isnt $5k. If its gonna be worth the investment in 10 years time then id rather change the floor. Im not a big fan of cars going to scrap either and ill probably get my money back out of it if the market now is any indication of how things will be 10-20 years from now. Itll be hard enough to find a shitty fox let alone a nice one by that time lol

On the subject of forward door posts, is this a repairable spot, or does it require heroic effort

It’s repairable as long as the whole post isn’t rotted, which can happen. Not hard to pull the doors or fenders to have a good look.
