This is bull shit. Person driving can’t make responsible decisions so they want to hold the texter liable!?

An insurance and legal expert says texters could be held liable for any damages if they message someone they know is driving and that person has an accident.

Yeah but. I text my wife on the way to the store to say don’t forget my beer. Knowing she will wait until she stops to check.

If a friend is driving and now text in the same what just to give venthem info. I should not be liable if they choose on to wait till it’s safe to read it

Then an investigation is done if recipient of the call was using hands free device, transcript reveals caller is aware that recipient was not in fact using a hands free device. Leads to caller being up the creek with no paddle.

That’s bullshit... it’s still the drivers conscious decision to look at the text and/or reply.

It's crazy that courts are setting this precedent. The US is crazy for civil litigation so hopefully it doesn't spread here.

So what about this new " cell phone alert message". There must be data to show how many people are driving at any particular time. Will they, the government, be accountable? Just sayin.

That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. That’s like blaming the auto manufacturers for drunk drivers...

They were talking about this on CFRB this morning. It was an insurance company lawyer that brought this up. No doubt looking for a way to avoid paying a claim.

Have an accident, doing something wrong or not, best to get outta the car n toss your phone, camera, gps and all electronics from your car as far away from you as possible.
