1. Where in the GTA can one purchase a helmet neck support? Not looking for a HANS device, just the donut style.

2. Where in the GTA can you rent a manual transmission car?

That is all. Thanks.

My first call would be to JRP for the neck support. (Although if I remember right, they aren't proven to actually do anything, if you're buying it for safety reasons rather than comfort, might want to do some research first)

It's just for comfort.

The auto would be for me. She wants to learn to drive a manual.

I have one of the Simpson neck supports. They work amazing to take up some of the helmet weight. I got mine at CsC in Newmarket a year or so ago they moved to St. Catherines. See if you can order one online and have it shipped.

Stephen, I should be able to get you the G-Force brand through Keystone Auto.

Also remember my offer to loan my Fiesta demo for a day, it would be perfect ... totally non-intimidating car to drive.

cheers
Ed

Thanks Ed, I forgot about your generous offer. As far as the helmet support collar, can you see if they come in different sizes as Celeste wants one too.

From what I remember, there are some driving schools that offer manual cars that they will teach you on.

$200 kijiji beater? Run 2 10 temp permits, sell to wrecker for the same $200. Total cost $30 for the temp permits and whatever it costs for plates if you don't have an extra set, and maybe $50 for insurance if you choose wisely.

A friend of mine did this when he was 16.. problem is the clutch was shot so he pretty much had to relearn how to work the clutch in his next car.

^Learning to drive a manual with a totally blown clutch is a somewhat useful skill but probably not the ideal way to start. From looking in the past finding a rental manual is pretty much impossible.

Used to teach people to drive standard on my old Mazda B2600.
Put it 4-low it was impossible to stall. Allowed them to practise gear changes without fear of stalling. ‘Course, could only go about 50 km/h, lol

Wait, what, the B series actually could break 50km/h. Always seemed old half blind dudes behind the wheel of those things. I remember this because I’d be waving me finger at them, while I consume most of Saudia oil -black smoking them out, as I pass by.
