Tanking dollar is forcing me to put ideas on a holding pattern for a while.

I may pull the engine out of the notch and replace with a spare soon but I’m debating going with something like building a stout little 331 or do a nice EFI roller 351. I will just slap the TW heads and TF cam on the spare block and dump it in... then get some rotating assembly for the OE block and build that slowly or buy a 95? 351 block and build that - if our dollar goes up one day lol... Or save up for a Coyote swap since that’s getting a bit cheaper.

I’m also debating a serious wire hiding foolish plan on the notch to prove that efi and smog can look sexy.

I saw that and worth the money but at that level, it’s not much more for a 430hp Coyote better MPG and arguably more reliable but no more pushrod sound.

That set up makes way more jam then a coyote.

Bring that blown Fox Body to the track rental and line it up against my n/a Auto Coyote, you have more power and weight less.

Steve: Buy a real Mustang and play the push rod sound on your stereo full blast and you'll have the best of both worlds in your own little world, haha.

Steve, you seem to be more of an old school kind of guy so perhaps the push rod is for you. If your plan is to make the notch handle then forget the heavier 351 and stick with the lighter stroker 302 w TFS HCI.

Personally, I have had a 1990 302 push rod fox notch, 2v mod new edge GT and now the 2017 Coyote and I can tell you that I have never enjoyed driving a Mustang more than this current GT.

That said, different strokes for different folks so push rod may be best for you. Main thing is to make a decision on what you want the end goal to be for the notch and stick with it or else you won't have a car that lives up to your expectations.

For sure... I'm going to start collecting parts for a 331 stroker. Hopefully next season I will get the IRS done and have an engine ready for a swap too. This year I've been chasing annoying bugs like that stupid 1" lip in the rear fender that rubs and the awful setup I did up front where my wheels rubbed the large K-member. The front is cleaned up, just waiting on parts to fix the bumpsteer issue I have. Once done, the thing will drive like a mean SOB.

I have a ford racing Boss 302 block that is stroked to a 331 with big edelbrock heads that will be coming up for sale shortly if your interested. It sounds just like what you want.
