We are constantly bombarded about consuming alcohol or drugs and getting behind the wheel but it continues to make the news almost daily. Why is it so hard to either not drink or make prior arrangements on getting home ahead of time. So freakin senseless.
Impaired driver mowed down a women in a bus shelter mid afternoon at Kennedy and Finch the other day.
If your going to drink, DON'T FLIPPIN DRIVE!!!

One person is dead and another has been arrested for impaired driving following a crash on Highway 404 near Newmarket.
The crash happened in the northbound lanes of the highway at Aurora Road sometime early Friday morning.
Reports from the scene indicate that two vehicles were involved in the collision and that one of them may have rolled over.

Ontario Provincial Police say that both speed and alcohol were likely factors in the collision. The person taken into custody is expected to be charged with impaired driving causing death, according to OPP.
The road closure is between Aurora Road and Mulock Drive. It is expected to remain in effect until 8 a.m.

And now, we have to deal with more stoned drivers, so stupid for a damn cash grab.

The penalties need to be stiffer, way stiffer, it’s that simple.

Boy I called that one.. yet there was a bunch of guys telling me I was wrong. He should have been charged with murder or at least got 10 yrs for each person he killed, served consecutively. Maybe Trudeau will send him to an emotional wellness center.

Will be interesting to see if the non-monied truck driver in the Saskatchewan bus crash gets off as easily (noting not drunk but was responsible for a crash, not "accident", that resulted in the deaths of innocent people).

Speaking of truck driving, check out the wide variance between driver training requirements across the provinces. Wow......

Charges against the owner are new - driver was charged a while back. Yet to complete court process and be sentenced - then see how long the actual jail time is for the driver before parole.

...and another.

A toddler and his mother are both dead after a suspected impaired driving crash in Mississauga early Thursday morning.
Reports from the scene indicate that a Nissan was travelling eastbound on Bunrhamthorpe Road shortly after 2 a.m. when it was struck by a Hyundai that was headed northbound on Mavis Road at a high rate of speed.
The force of the impact sent the Nissan into a sound barrier at the side of the highway while the Hyundai continued north for a period of time before eventually coming to a stop.
....the 18-year-old male driver of the Hyundai was taken into custody on the suspicion of impaired driving. He is currently in hospital with serious injuries, according to police.

In terms of impaired driving?

Statistics say otherwise.

That and the ride checks are always on the main streets with lights flashing that you can see a mile away.
Anyone who’s had a drink just goes around.

And around hear at,east you see them at like 5 or 6 when people are heading out but never at midnight when people are heading home again.

A 22-year-old man is now facing impaired driving charges after a vehicle plunged into Lake Ontario in Oakville overnight Monday, allegedly killing a passenger.
Just after 3 a.m., police said they were called to the area of Maple Grove Drive and Lakeshore Road East to investigate a report of a person knocking on doors.
Abdul Sumra, who works in the area, told reporters that a maid called police after she noticed a man creating a disturbance.

A vehicle plummeted into Lake Ontario overnight on Nov. 5, 2018, according to Halton Regional Police.

“She said she called police because the boy who was arrested was banging this fence over here and getting crazy and jumping and shouting,” Sumra said.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers said they discovered that a vehicle entered the body of water after crashing through a metal barrier at the dead end of Maple Grove Drive.
“Our investigation led us to believe that there may have been another person associated or inside the vehicle,” Const. Ryan Anderson of Halton police told reporters. “Our search incident response team, marine unit and canine unit responded and we did locate a body approximately 600 metres west of the collision scene.”
Police said the deceased male who they located was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the collision. He has been identified as a 27-year-old man from Mississauga, but his name is not being released as per his family’s wishes, police said Monday night.
Investigators said they do not believe there were any other occupants in the vehicle.
The severely damaged and water-logged car was lifted from the lake using a cable later Monday.
Aaron Dobbs of Welland has been charged with impaired driving causing death and refusing to provide a breath sample.

At an emotional parole board hearing in Gravenhurst, Ont., where Muzzo is being held at the Beaver Creek minimum-security prison, the now 32-year-old said he feels "terrible" about the crash.
The parole board panel swiftly denied his first appeal for parole, determining within just 20 minutes that they "don't believe [Muzzo's] risk is manageable."
