All 17 dogs rescued from the Korean Meat Trade and brought to St. Catharines have been adopted.

Last month the Lincoln County Humane Society, working with Humane Society International, recieved 17 dogs rescued from the Korean Meat Trade.

The Humane Society International was able to save more than 200 dogs and bring them to Canada, the U.K, United States, and the Netherlands to find furever homes.

This was the 13th dog meat farm in South Korea HSI has been able to shut down.

Lincoln County Humane Society Executive Director Kevin Strooband says that while some of the dogs are still at the shelter, they have been adopted and will go home by the end of the week.

These dogs will have gone from living in barren metal cages, many suffering from painful sores, malnourishment, and skin diseases, to living happy lives with families.

That's awesome - congrats! I've supported those HSI, SOI Dog and other programs to try and shut down the dog and cat trades in those countries for a few years now - he escaped a horrendous and brutal short existence.

Congrats Chris! What's his breed?

Thanks everyone.

He's a Japanese Spitz (mix).

He's been just amazing. The only time I've heard him bark tho is when he was having a bad dream. It was more like a screech than a bark. I'm not sure what he was dreaming about.

He's extremely well natured and just such a good boy!

Being basically livestock in his past life, he really didn't know how to 'dog'. His trust was low and he didn't even like toys.

Now...?

One thing he says about dog parks is that they are bad and a great place to have your dog attacked.

Except Bear looks to be having a GREAT time running in the dog park with the other dogs socializing..... so?

Dog parks are the best place to take your dog to see if your dog has any aggression issues with other dogs. Just think there are a bunch of dogs running around and YOUR dog knows you are in the fenced in area and may be in danger of other dogs, so just maybe they think they need to protect you. A responsible dog owner will keep an eye on their dog in the park to see if any aggression is about to start with any dog. This is not a pace for people to stand and chat with each other and let their dogs bully others until there is that dog fight.

Nothing wrong with a clean well run dog park.

I think the guy has gotten bit by a dog and is all messed up. lol he got to make a video though of his opinion without any proof of knowledge. I was just doing the same without a video. Everyone has their opinions. Let my experience go if you don't like it.
