Opinions on the Chrysler 300. Considering one in new year. Looking at 2017-2018. Thinking of 300S. Any troubles with them? Input appreciated, thx,

Pretty rock solid cars, imo. My parents have a first gen of the current platform. It's been good. Just regular maintenance.

I think the S looks great. Gives you that SRT look with the Pentastar V6.

Thx. Like it in black and from what I’ve read the S is a bit sportier than the rest, suspension wise anyway. Have to wait and see if I have the $$ for it in new year.

I've got a 2016 touring AWD, V6, I drove all of them, the "S" has a stiffer suspension , 8 more HP and some baseball stitching etc on the seats + different rims etc , great cars, I took the touring model awd , as a year round car, drives smoother than the S didn't miss the 8 HP ,(BTW the 8hp is a cold air intake) & I like a little chrome etc on my car ! I have had zero issues , good gas mileage for what they are & piles of creature comforts, I did buy all the extended warranty just in case, !!!

Zero issue cars, one hell of a buy used.

Yup, and the market is flooded with them since they are commonly used for rentals, so can be found 1-2 years old fairly easily. We get lots S models as old rentals, they sell damn quick though.

Any of our dealer sponsors have any on their lots?

No 300's, but we do have a 2018 Ford Taurus Limited waiting for a new home...

Haven’t seen anything personally, but I’ve heard of some issues with them, yes, till they’re older though.

Either one works, pricing is good on the first one, but average on the second, we have a couple 17/18 300S models for $29.XXX and a 16 Base for $24.XXX, with 20-27k.

Now if only Chrysler would put the Hellcat motor into this car!

...or the original 440 that came in the ‘69 we had.

Remember the AWD don't get the same gas mileage , for obvious reasons , but they are TANKS, & BTW the AWD is seamless , I have a hard time figuring out if I'm in AWD or not ! works perfectly !

Wonder how they are in snow without AWD?

Still pretty decent but AWD is da bomb.

To me they look goofy with awd, a bit higher and the wheels sit flush, but yes, in our climate it is awesome!

I'll take the ride in a touring / touring awd over the S anyday !

I’ve driven plenty of them, the S is a bit stiffer but I prefer them to the others, but that’s just me. Either one rides awesome, it when going from one to another there is a difference, as well the S cars have 20” wheels as opposed to 18s, so that’s part of the problem.

Does the S type have the 5.7 Hemi?

Does the S type have the 5.7 Hemi?

Available with either engine, it’s a sport package, different wheels, blacked out trim, S insignia in the seats, nice stitching, etc....

If I purchase a 300 S, they have 20 inch tires. What do you do for snows? 20 inch snows? Lol.

I think you can get them put super pricy. talk to a dealer you trust, you can most likely get a smaller set of rims and save big. when we had the Lincoln it had 20's but a 17 inch rim would fit so that's what I ran for snows

CON VERT
01-05-2019, 10:09 AM
Yes u can get away with a smaller tire, but the S is a tad lower , & when u use a smaller tire & rim size etc, well u know where I,m going with this, I was told it wasn't a great idea !

good point. make sure you get something with a taller sidewall then to make up the difference, should be able to get real close to the stock over all diameter then

So far impressed with it. Haven’t driven a rwd in snow in a long time. Was concerned. Handles winter like a champ! And going through deep pools of water, you don’t even feel it. Had an impala (2007) and pools of water freaked me out sometimes. Obviously the technology can’t be compared. Ride... 300 hands down. Hope it stays like this. Impressed so far!
