Dude was beyond over the line IMHO, should have come over to speak with you if it was such an issue. I do however agree, some cars with some exhausts are brutally loud at fire up but tame down considerably within the first few minutes of warm up, could see something like that irritating a neighbor but still not his or her call to reach into your car.

Yes I feel bad when my car is in the garage and gets fired up on cold mornings....the SLPs are not quiet......

So Im quite pissed off and want others opinion.
I am doing some data logging with my tuner and after driving needed about 5min of idle. So I left it in the driveway running and went in to get a drink, just as I go to go turn it off I hear the cars off. Neighbour across the street was leaving my driveway and had turned the car off. Said his daughter was going to bed and could hear it. I apologised but said in the future please approach me or knock on the door vs turning the car off. (AKA dont touch my shit) he went on to say that he heard it earlier when I was warming up in the garage before heading out, and I said again why didnt you say anything I was outside... He thinks he did nothing wrong, I admit I am in the wrong if the noise was bothering him (have never heard issue from any other neighbours or my family)
-Important fact to add, I have Never Spoke to this guy before and I do not know anyone in his family
Should I be as pissed off as I am? I almost lost a 20 min datalog and what would you do if a stranger went and turned off your car?

What time did this happen? How loud is your car? If it happened at 8 ish he's and ass, 11 o'clock is different (although he shouldn't have touched your car)

Dude was beyond over the line IMHO,
...says the guy who moved somebody's vehicle while he went in to grab a Tim's.

I don't know, just my opinion, but I suspect you may have mildly annoyed this neighbor for some time now. Seems like a "final straw" sort of moment.

I try and get to know all my neighbors. My wife makes fun of me for it since I'm an introvert. In the entire time before I moved in, she only met the immediate neighbors and a couple of people across the street. I know everybody up and down the back alley. LOL, they all come check out the garage :D

Sure, but if the windows are closed and you can still hear the car idling....if the car has exhaust mods and a quiet area at night time I can see how it can be annoying.. Again if it was 8pm way out of line, 11pm is a different story, why not wait till the next day.

But that's just me, I'm 32 going on 80 when it comes to respecting noise and my neighbours.

Good to hear I was right to be upset, I was very calm when speaking to him and apologized for the noise as the last thing I want to do is bother others (next door neighbors have backyard stereos I know what its like)
Car was warmed up I had just got back from logging and was recording idle for a couple min. No revs I come into the neighborhood at 1krpm and try to be respectful.
Rick it was the tune I rolled in on (quieter idle with fuel smell)
9:45 at night but all lights were on and didn't think it was an issue as I have asked other neighbors and no one has ever heard me on Fridays when I come home late and leave it running as I move the car so I didn't think he could hear it.
First time I have ever spoke to the guy period not just about the car, literally don't know his name.

I would have fuckin lost it on him, neighbors or not. You can make all the noise you please before 10pm.

I was having a get together last summer with some friends.. bbq, drinks ect. It was a Saturday at 7:30pm when my neighbor tells me we are being too loud and the stereo did not need to be that loud.

I cranked the fucker the whole way up (busted a tweeter cause of it) .. he calls the cops. They show up and asked if I could tone it down, I said no... they say ok sorry to bug you. Haven't spoken to my neighbor since.

My neighbor is a asshat, plenty of encounters like this one. That was the first time he called the cops.

Edit: He hates my car.

Don't stress trying to have a neighbour like that like you. It won't
happen. I have neighbors beside me that don't like me. They just don't have the balls to do anything like that. So they just try to talk with us and will passive agressivly mention things we do that clearly annoy them.

The most recent one being a large tree in my backyard. They're saying it sways really bad in the wind and want me to cut it down. I said I'll look into it. Im not lol

Felt like saying,
Them: Can you cut down that tree
Me: Do you have house insurance?
Them: Yes
Me: FUCK OFF !!

LMAO!

I suggest a slightly different approach... Go over and talk to him. Tell him you understand and appreciate his concerns and that you'll keep him and his family in mind when you're working on your car. But also, if he has any future concerns, to please speak to you about them prior to jumping in your car. And tell him that if he ever needs any help with anything, not to hesitate to ask you for your help. And when you can, engage him in conversation. Creating a good relationship with your neighbours will be far more rewarding and helpful to you than waging war.

People just don't get it. If they think we're overpaid they're more than fucking welcome to build the office they work in, themselves.

Hopefully their office is on the 74th floor so we can watch them quiver like the little bitches they are.

Started out with a 14.78 at 98mph in the morning and gradually got faster and faster. I spun hard on that first pass but everyone gave me tips on how to warm up the tires and I got it to hook.

My best pass was a 14.16 at 98 mph. A good improvement from 14.59 in spring time.

It's Harpers fault that Ontario manufacturing is is such a poor state ( funny though the provincial Libs owned that)

Openly stating he will cancel international deals with no regard to the impact it can have on relations
And when asked about the impact he stated they should have know an election was pending and that's not his problem

And I'm sorry but too me using the death of the former leader to push your campaign is just the lowest move possible.

Same question here. Drove a new one recently, while it's not the rock solid truck my fullsize Sierra is, came away pleasantly impressed how it drove n felt. Have been told there is a huge difference between standard and premium shock package (as you would expect). Truck like mine without the Rancho option feels spongy / sloppy compared to my own with em.

Older gen.

Even still though. It's a complete piece of shit. Michaela and her mom each got their "trucks" at the same time. Both have similar mileage. The GM has gone through multiple sets of brakes. Tranny rebuilt. Tranny replaced. The HVAC system is shot and only works on high speed. The passenger window doesn't work. The passenger door almost fell off. The seats feel like they're full of baseballs. It's gone through three starters and batteries. Wheel bearings and ball joints replaced twice. Electrical gremlins galore. Driving it down the road is just terrifying. Shakes rattles and skips all over the place. It feels like it's gonna fall apart. And the CEL is on for god knows what.

Now Michaela's Toyota isn't free and clear either. It's had One brake job done by Rick. One battery (changed by me) and the ball joints/control arms replaced also by Rick.

Michaela begged her mom to get a Tacoma but she didn't listen.

After my experience with my Focus and Mustangs I can honestly say my next vehicle will most likely be an import. I just don't trust domestic manufacturers at the moment. Might get a Tacoma or Tundra. Giving their PROVEN durability.

I know all about their gas mileage. Her FJ cruiser is basically a short box single cab full time 4x4 Tacoma with a body.

It's a stout truck but a complete gas guzzler. 3" lift, 33" nubby tires and big steel bumper don't help much either lol. But it looks cool [emoji1]

Yesterday saw a tow-truck on my street towing... a competitor's tow-truck!

Saw the host of Canada's Worst Driver and his producer driving their bicycles in circles through a Yonge street intersection, then through a red light, then a right turn with no signal... practice what you preach.

well....I successfully saved the big Maple tree that straddles the property line in my backyard with the neighbour....who's house is coming down for a new McMansion

they must be getting ready to tear the house down and put up hoarding around the base of the tree to protect it

saving the tree is gonna keep my yard's serenity and shade....and privacy from the new monster home looking into my yard

it was their plan that showed the tree "just" going over the property line....and after googling forestry laws I learned that it's as much my tree as it is theirs and to cut it down meant they needed my consent and I wasn't consenting.....and if they cut it down anyway then it was a criminal offence with a fine of up to 100k and jailtime

I spoke at the committee of adjustment meeting battling the first house plan that was huge and woulda meant the tree was done...and they denied the application.....and spoke again at the next meeting battling the 2nd smaller house plan because the walkout basement woulda killed the tree

I was learning as I went but wanted to be the squeaky wheel.....and I wanted to be heard on record

the 2nd meeting paid dividends because I got to meet the hired architect for the build and got about 10 minutes of his time after the meeting where I made my views on cutting down that tree crystal clear.....also found out a neighbour was in attendance that works for the city and deals with their forestry dept on a daily basis

so...I got on the radar

I've never met or spoken to anyone who claims to own the property since my old crusty Asian neighbour sold it....and I was able to save that tree by going through the city's pain in the ass process

Keep an eye on any excavation that may damage the root system of these tress. Not sure what the law is about root systems on neighbours properties. I have seen root systems deliberately tampered with to kill a tree. Once it dies a few years later the property owner still gets their way.

the regs state a certain distance based on the diameter of the trunk....the bigger the trunk the longer the distance

when I had my 10 minutes with the architect......he rhymed off the diameter of the trunk and how far away the foundation needed to be (think he said 12 feet for this tree).....and he had to revise the plan to lose the basement walkout because of the tree

the city will hold builders accountable years after if their builds kill the root systems of city trees....and with this tree on everyone's radar and with proper hoarding up I'm pretty confident that they're doing their best to not kill it......because if the city can hold the builder accountable after the fact then so can I

until I saw the hoarding up I was still nervous that I'd come home from the office one day and it would be cut down....and that's not happening

On my first Committee of Adjustment meeting I invited the entire committee to take a short walk along Park Home Ave to see what a builder had done to the neighbour's Pine tree (the North York City Hall where the COA meeting takes place is literally just around the corner from my street)

zoom in on the Pine tree on the right side of this new modern shitbox that proves money can't buy taste.....they scalped like 40 ft of a 60 foot tree.....neighbours as I understand are renters....so the builder just scalped it as they built upwards

https://www.google.ca/maps/place/98+park+home+ave/@43.767761,-79.4197998,3a,75y,336.8h,90t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m4!1syw-uG8XSSagz6unqYD4mrA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!4b1!4m2!3m1 !1s0x0:0x2ce20417e782a490!6m1!1e1

in speaking with my neighbour who works for the city....this builder is in serious shit and facing a monster fine for doing that

not only did I invite the COA committee out to see it....but I also fired an email off to my City Councillor

I'm gonna assume that I might be winning my battle because of what that builder did......and being a squeaky wheel mighta made the city's forestry dept read the riot act to the builders on my street

there are a few busy-body wives on the street that constantly attend the COA meetings to fight the new McMansions....and having met a few in my battle....I had to point out that butchered tree to each of them....they didn't even notice it

I walk by that place everyday to and from my subway commute and when they started the build I was saying how-the-fuck are they gonna build up with that tree there

I can see a developer swallowing a 100k fine for a condo tower......but not so much for a 2 storey house build where he's already shelled out a million bucks for the lot....600-700k for the build and tries to unload for 2 million

and politicians can play hardball against a private builder who's gonna take one 40ft lot and up the property taxes from 4k to 9k.......while they sheepishly pretend to care about the trees on a property that's gonna go from 40k in property taxes to 400,000

Despite contacting my local MP, who took 6 weeks to get back to me and told me that nothing could be done, or Kathleen Wynn's office who couldn't be bothered to even email me back, random strangers will be wandering the halls with your children. I think I'm a pretty laid-back person, but doesn't this sound ridiculous? Do we really need to wait for a tragedy to change the location of polling stations? it isolates the quads and hamstrings so much better than the old piece that my legs are right in the zone for squats....going deep....real good form....knees feel great

today on the rack (same as the last 3 leg days)

125 - 8 reps

29 sets in all with heavy forward lunges, stiff-leg deadlifts and thigh-ext/legcurls

takes a while to dry off after that

been lifting dedicated for over 30 years now....so since before you were born

the hours add up......I've literally lifted for more than 1 year of my life

I seem to have more gas in my tank as of late....I think it's two reasons

1) I paid a lot of bucks to have that gym done right when we reno'd the basement last year....so I think I subconsciously push harder to justify a $2700 rubber floor, nice pot lights, fancy paint, mirrors and all that shit

2) training Jodi down there now makes me push myself harder too.....I figure if I'm making her grind it out then I gotta set an example.....so when I make her little 104.2 lb body squat a 25lb bar for half decent reps....then I gotta get my 208 lb body to do the same with 400lbs.....she can't make excuses if I'm not

fwiw...it was Jodi's leg-day too yesterday....and on her last set of squats she did 8 reps with the bar...then I yanked it off and told her to do 20 more reps with just her body weight.....and she did it with no arguing (well...a little but I have selective hearing)

15 weeks ago she said she was embarrassed because she was swimming in her little size 1 jeans....now she's telling me they're getting too tight because her thighs and bum are filling them out more than they were before she got sick

and I'm just getting her started over here

After months of going back and forth with the city seems our wood burning fireplace in the garage can stay!

Someone called in a complaint about it, not sure why. Inspector demanded I take it out.. I said no. A month goes by and he calls again.. "is it out?" .. me: no.

The fireplace has been there since the 60's and now it has to come out? Fuck off.

Get it wett certified then they can't make you remove it. If it can't be certified then it would be in your best interest as a home owner to replace it with one that can be. If there is ever a fire insurance can give you hassle if it's not certified.

Its a stove, sorry.

Someone also called the fire department when I started it up last Tuesday night.. guessing it was the same person who called the city. They show up and look at the setup and say everything is good and safe. Talked to one of them for a good half hour, tells me not to worry about anything. Nice guys. The joys of living in the city.

Five people are dead and one person remains missing after a whale watching boat sank off the B.C. coast near Tofino Sunday.

The MV Leviathan II, operated by Jamie’s Whaling Station and Adventure Centres, had 27 aboard when it sank off the western shore of Vancouver Island, sending the passengers into the cold waters of the north Pacific. The Globe and Mail reports the ship sank after striking rocks, but a full investigation of the incident is expected to begin Monday.

Tragic, so I'm going to refrain from any Jaws jokes. Gotta wonder tho, what happened to Leviathan I ?

Only concerns would be color match (depending on Colour) a lot of colours have multiple chips to allow for tone or hue difference. Especially something with pearl or metalics.
Usually if something is repairable the paint will be blended out to adjacent panels
If they paint compleat you may notice a slight color difference on adjacent panels.

Bottle at Belgiuminabox . Very to have found this one as it is yet another beer devoted to a metalband. Always cool to find these ones ! The fact that this time a Belgian brewery made it, and of all the options they took a good one, makes me even more enthousiastic. The consumption of this ale was of course paired with the fine music from these gentleman. Pours fuzzy yellow, almost like a wheatbeer, but with a huge white head. It fades to a more regular sized, steady head in a rather fast timespan. Smell is mostly yeasty, with much yeast-bitterness to it as well. Bit fruity even ( again, from the yeast ) . Taste is bitter. Intense on yeast, its bitter aspects up front , with a residential sweetness from the malts in the back. The totality is perfumed by a mixture of fine hoparoma as well of fruity yeastnotes. On the mouthfeel side, this beer is way overcarbonated. Apparently, this is the first version of this beer ( are there more to come ? ) so perhaps this shall be finetuned in the future batches. I like the -relatively- intense bitterness though. I still think a belgian ale is a weird choice for a rough death metal band ( you’d’expect imperial stout rather than this ) but I will let bad comments on that fact go, since I do like the beer. Horns up !
There are others?

I would be more worried about your insurance covering you with an invalid sticker if something where to happen. Not sure if they need to cover you when you shouldn't be on the road legally. I could be wrong but it sounds like a case they may want to fight you on if the claim was large enough or had bodily injuries to others.

It is tempting to be honest. Eat what we hunt or grow. I'd need a nice shop to build shit though. Also off the grid as much as possible. But I need to be near schools though. Wife is almost convinced, but wants to look into moving to BC. I like the idea of being off the grid and making cash money, best FU to the liberals is to not pay taxes.
