Saw it as well, but sans sobriety. Thought it was a damn good movie. May not have the same staying power as the first but was very fun with enough of the old stuff mixed in with some new comedy. Farva kills it in this one. I loved the first so much I debated not seeing this after the Anchorman 2 debacle, but glad I did.

Time to look for another job now... I suspect I'm going to get laid off since they seem to be backtracking a promotion because the BOD doesn't really believe in the direction that I'm presenting (PMO structure)... Sooooo I'm buying a new cell phone (was using company phone) and starting the job hunt. I don't fuck around, it takes time to find high-level jobs. But I will aim for somewhere a tad closer than 50km... Maybe it's time to get into IT-PM/BA consulting. I was hoping to be PMO before jumping ship but maybe it I need to act faster lol... Finding a job is such a PITA job itself though, fun times...

He's the most feminine "straight" guy I've ever met in my life. He's not into cars, not into music, not really into beer, never did drugs, gets grossed out at farts, can't use a tool to safe his life and probably watches days of our lives as far as I can tell. Super nice guy but I can't stand speaking to him. They spent 3 days at our place once and I was having panic attacks trying to avoid having a chat with him. He's into video games but I'd rather drink beer and work on my car or renovate the house or break something just to fix or break it in the process of trying to improve it (insert Tim Allen grunt). LOL he must feel the same about me but tends to follow me around and talk about gigabytes and PS3's and his daughter's painting and shit I don't care about...

Yes. Even if there's the slightest inclination that something is amiss have it documented prior to the expiration of the warranty. Doesn't hurt to have a tech look it over and verify the vitals before it starts being on your dime.

^Agreed, although realistically if you don’t hear or feel anything I doubt they will, main thing is to have it looked at for leaks, those can get expensive very quickly.

I recently got into it with Ford about an issue on the Mustang that was documented prior to warranty expiration. Basically the moment we clicked past 100,000km, Ford washed their hands of it and said it's your problem now. Pretty unbelievable conversation I had with Ford (of Canada) to be honest.

Oddly enough, gets louder the harder I hammer down, gonna have to drive it a few miles this weekend n see if I can pinpoint the source. Must be time for new tires as well, back end broke loose as I entered corner 9, I mean the 404 ramp south bound.

I deal with this kind of thing in my line of work but with appliances. basically to be blunt the manufactures is only responsible for things up until the warranty ends after that its your baby. no legal of moral obligation falls on them after that time.

if there was a problem that was documented before the warranty expired, then it should have been fixed before the warranty ended

spent the morning at the local green house that was having their open house today, spent way too much money on flowers that will die the first time we go away and no one waters them

then the rest of the aft dewinterizing the trailer

Also supremely tired. Decided this is gonna be the year I get the yard in shape now that most of the major interior reno's are sorted or close to.

Spent yesterday raking the yard of dead and matted grass, blowing and cleaning out the beds of leaves, and general tidying. Today was getting the lawn mower running which was thankfully a matter of fresh gas and a couple pulls (yay I'm adult who can propely winterize yard equipment). Also took the opportunity to sharpen the blade which i have never done before, kind of a cathartic exercise. Cut and bagged the lawn, sprayed the weed killer down before it's dandelion city. Went thru and pruned the heck out of our shrubs to hopefully get them back in order.

Seriously. Gassed.

Ya my hard drive is definitely full. Concerned every time I learn something new at work I'm going to forget where I live or how to walk as a result. Kinda my fault, there's a whole bunch of Porsche trivia and knowledge I'll likely never use but refuse to let go of.

my wife thought my memorizing her driver's license # was sort of useless too

then about 10+ years ago some bastard stole her wallet with all her ID and cards in it

we walked into TD and explained the situation trying to get her a new bank card asap so she had at least some access to cash

denied....said you need I.D.

I said - "you got her driver's license # on that screen?"

she said yes

I said - H************22

the lady was kinda stunned....cleared her throat and said she'd be right back with a new card

and we had the # written down and kept it in the car until she got her license returned (thief took the cash only and threw the wallet into a mail box) just in case she got pulled over

always felt it was good to have the DL# memorized.....like if you're stuck at the border and someone swiped your wallet and they won't let you back into the country

Half of the DL number is your birth date so it shouldn't be that hard to remember.

Our memories are going because we've delegated that function of our brain to our smartphones so it's being used less and space between the synapses won't be as well greased as time goes by. Fun stuff....

I don't remember it that way

I think I repeated the # enough times in my head that it kinda comes off like musical notes or something

fwiw....I had a pretty nice 10-speed bike that I bought with paper route money in about 1978 or 1979...all on my own...was expensive for the time...like $350

the serial # was RD134662

bicycle thefts were big back then in my area and I wanted to be able to identify it if someone swiped it and did a repaint

I sold the thing in like 1983....so not sure how the fuck I still remember the serial #

LS swap.

Fun fact that keeps me awake at night. Two or three years after buying my GT I was offered a guys 996 with an LS1 swap for about 8k over what the GT was worth. I declined because 8k was a lot of money at the time and also truthfully I prefer the flat 6 stuff. Would have been real fun though.

Also Hsousa88, aircooled prices are slowly normalizing again. Rare stuff like RS/Turbo/GT cars will never be normal again but I've seen a tonne of impact bumper 911 going for 30-40 again.

Following a recommendation I decided to try Tasty George today for lunch. I will say it's very cheap, $3.50 for 2 beef patties and a pop, but I wasn't very impressed by the patties, meh. Will try something off the menu next time. On the plus side: I found two-fiddy on the side of the sidewalk. Net cost for lunch: $1.

It's a 10 minute walk from my office, and on the way there I passed no less than a dozen "spas". That's not counting the ones on the other side of the road or the second floor windows with simply a neon "open" sign.

I take the harness apart by removing tape and looms. Then use soft plastic brush and a solvent (forgot the name, I think Castrol in a purple 4L bottle, it’s sort of like spray nine). Then use a contact cleaner for electronics on the connections... helps to have a compressor with an air gun too.

Then apply 3M friction tape and new loom...

Some of those killer cleaners are very caustic n will cause long term damage if not fully removed. We lean towards using brake cleans for that kinda job. Yes way more expensive but easy on plastic connectors and wire covering itself.

Took the 05 out for a quick drive today as it looked like rain (and I needed to turn it around in the garage)
went to Mr Lube where I did my last e-test (2 min from my house) to see if they could check readiness monitors before I go in for my test this year. They couldnt...

As Im walking out to the parking lot I see two guys talking about my car and saying they liked it, it made me proud, I got in and watched the eyes follow once they heard it drive away,
as I drove down Appleby I realized they didn't hear the blower so I stomped on it in second and wound it out going down the street sideways (3 lanes of no cars mind you)

I had a smile all the way home and made me realize that we do have cool cars and am appreciative of what I have and the opportunities that have been given to me.
I also realized the car would be way more fun to drive if it had longer gears and more traction.

So instead of taking a step back or asking someone they decide to crank that key like it owes them money. That sounds like a few of the labourers where I work. Terms like "don't have the good sense god gave a goose" or "sharp as a bowling ball" come to mind. A couple of our topkicks are finicky to get started, takes some jiggling to get it to turn. I'd suggest labelling the keys but we have a labelled peg board with unit number key chains and people still have issues.

Managed to break my ankle yesterday. Stepped out of a truck into a hole and rolled it over. Knew from the bad initial pain it wasn't good. Got a sweet air cast and should be OK in 4 weeks apparently.

Anyway to turn off the Amber Alert system on the phone?

CRTC spokeswoman Patricia Valladao, told the Canadian Press “People cannot opt out of this,” adding, “There is a high importance that people — want it or not — receive these alerts.”

Patrick Tanguy, an assistant deputy minister with Public Safety Canada, said “When you’re getting those alerts your life is at risk,” adding “So it’s not there’s potentially a danger, there is a danger.”

Well I can either spend the $1000-1500 to redo mustang fuel system and hopefully get it tuned and etested, or spend it on the new sump pump w/battery backup and regrading foundation. Fuck I hate adult responsibilities.

Spent the day pressure washing the patio yesterday, shut it down at 6pm, went downstairs for a beer and my fucking basement is flooded! My tap must have cracked and was running all day in the basement.

Buddies came over to help vacuum it up, must have pulled 500+ litres of water out... had to call insurance to deal with this.

Sump pumps are a worthwhile investment, my carpet sucked up 90% of the water, the rest found its way to the drain in my maintenance room.

Looks like the will start by cutting out the first 6” of the drywall (from ground level) one complete wall, partial ceiling, and another partial wall.

I have one, but want to go overkill with two 1/2 hp pumps on dedicated drains and a battery backup with alarm.

If you're going to cut the drywall out like that use a circular saw with a diamond blade set to 1/2" depth. If you run it along a straight edge you can then get a flush cut that you can cover with 6.5" or higher baseboard vs having to patch and mud.

I can understand a one time Amber alert, ok fine. But not 3 loud blasting alerts. First alert in English, 30min later second alert in French. Third alert the kid was found (thankfully so) I have my 5yr old home today from school because she is sick. Now she's scared as fuck of that loud sound when my phone goes off. The third alert woke my sleeping 20 month old baby from 25ft away!

EDIT: I found how to disable the Amber alert alarm in my phone settings, thank you Google!
All phones (in your text message settings) should have the feature to silence the alarm and/or vibration, this way just the Amber alert message is displayed, nothing else.

Good idea. After the ice storm the power was out so long a lot of people had their batteries run dry.

Family relation had one, worked great until the pump itself sprung a leak when they were out of town. They loved having it up until that point though. Although I think they have one again now as a just in case.

I work with quite a few people on their own wells. All now have small generators handy to run their sump pumps just in case. That is another good option, you can get a small generator for not that much.

Arrived at 4:30, carpets been soaked 32hrs “ish” and they just dropped fans down and the dehumidifiers, I’m insisting they just yank the carpet now.

Mold growth happens incredibly quick and I have a young family, my adjuster doesn’t see it my way even after I sent her reports from fema/cdc saying regardless of clean water sources, water goes stagnant quickly and to remove carpet.

Dealing with insurance shit is a headache. Standing your ground and being all over them is the only way to ensure a reasonable outcome.

I just got done throwing in a new 1/3 hp pump in my sump pit. I now have a 1/2 hp submersible at base of pit and the new unit set to kick on if the water level rises another 4". Going to get a UPS for them tomorrow, however I'll probably end up throwing this recepticle on a transfer switch for the genny.

I'm likewise a sump pump saddled homeowner. 3 times in the last year I've been home or arrived just in time to avert a flood. Storm, rain, wind, power outage. I grabbed 3 of the battery back-up units used by my computers and kept the flood at bay for the 4-5 hours of crisis.

I'm debating gutting one of these units and hooking up a couple of car batteries instead of the small scooter size battery in the case.

I've had a DC second pump that was inadequate. I also had a failure of the check valve splitting the two pumps into one discharge.

I'm in favor of one good quality A/C pump with an inverter/battery back up.

My neighbor's new place has a water powered back up pump (uses city water pressure to spin the pump). He got flooded on the occasion I used my batteries.

I have each pump with its only check valve, then they wye in to the main discharge out of the house.

Appreciate the insights. My pedestal pump float is clear the side of the pit as is the tether switch on the secondary pump. Going to continue to test every couple months to verify. The check valve stuff sucks. I hate how a $20 part failure can inflict so much damage, which is why I bought spares. May end up putting in a water powered back up pump.

I'm a big fan of overkill.

Got lucky yesterday, fired up the shop AC to check before the season swings into high gear, no response between remote and the unit. Got lucky when I pulled the front cover off and cleaned the units receiver / receiver sight glass and retried, she fired up and is running like a rock star. No AC in the house would be a problem, no AC in the shop is at a whole other level of misery.

Finally got my power steering pulley changed after fighting with it for days, tool was the issue I believe I bought a cheap kit off Amazon and the part that rests against the pump shaft literally lathed itself while turning and the shavings went in the threads of the tool making the torque required to turn much higher.
Was quite the surprise to see the amount of metal missing but no damage to the pump shaft.
Ordered a new installer from Amazon as the old one was trashed, it arrived last night but the thread pitch was wrong.
Have up went to Canadian tire and bought a 3rd kit.
I was able to put the new pulley on with 2 fingers.
