Rust protection of undercarriage treatment/ recommendations

I want to detail the under-carriage of my foxbody to prep it for the new drivetrain that is going to be installed next month
Is POR15's 3 step process plus topcoat still the gold standard for this work?

It’s clean and solid, rust free

Coat it with a thin layer of Krown-like rustproofing, or even engine oil will work. You should never coat a clean underbody with POR or rubberized undercoating unless it will be seeing snow/salt, that destroys the factory finish for no good reason. Best to do this after the work has been done, or you will get oily.

If the under body is clean and rust free, I'd detail it and leave as is. I wouldn't spray anything on it.

if you have bare metal or fresh welds you may want to clean those up and give the some paint first....

I’d just paint those areas, personally I’d do it with flat or satin black tremclad and a brush, factory floor coating is very nice to have, try to keep as much of it as possible

If it’s rust free I’d clean and prime any new welds or bare metal with Zinc Chromate or Epoxy primer. Then I’d coat it with rubberized rocker guard. You’ll get a nice matte black finish that will resist chipping.
