A couple of weeks ago I was looking at these things seeing how the 20" wheels us kids are using these days are too heavy for some of the older guys around here but the price is still a bit high for what it's used for imo.

Would be just as easy to lower the jack until the tire lines up, wouldn’t it?
When I worked at a truck shop 20 years ago they had one of those for truck tires, personally I don’t see the need for car/light truck tires.

When I was in the truck shop we only used the tire cradle to pull off a complete set of tandems - hub and two wheels with drum complete assembly - on the road would use a plastic mud flap smeared with 80/90 and slide the complete tandem off that way (pretty barbaric working on trucks) - the cradles work good but you need flat and relatively clean surface - Ponyryd's idea sounds pretty good just remember to jack it back up. but ya sometimes a 16" 8 lug steelie is a bit hard on the old back out in the gravel drive....
