I ve recently been wondering bout my tires on the Mustang , read the date code on the tire, It appeared to be from 09?? So then I went digging in my receipts, folder and found the original receipt from the purchase. The car had 113,000 km on it, now has close to 150,000. Tires were installed April 2010. Back then they cost me $1070 balanced and installed. I took the rims out to Hills Tire , Six Nations Res, because the tires were still off the car from winter storage :) .... Now, even more, I m thinkin bout tires.... pays to look at them, just because they look good, prob still feel pritty good, but are dated for sure. They have been babied , relatively speaking. They ve not been stored on the car in the winter, they were always brought inside for the winter... I think that has helped them be as good as they are. They only see sun when car is driven, stored in garage unless driven... Nitto Extreme 555R 18 s it what she sits on now :) ...I am kinda kickin round NITTO NT05 s ??? wanna see a few first ;) ....

My Nitto 555 are 7 years old. Time to replace even with lots of tread left on them. I use dedicated track tires tho. I hate shopping for tires.

Because that pic is from Mosport a few years ago.

I run the NT05’s as my track tire, really really like them.

My street tires are Goodyear F1’s that are way too old, LOL since i’ve had the car! Obviously I don’t use the right pedal enough on the street.

If I had to guess...I would say the front tires on my GT were installed in 2006 when I did the 5 lug and Cobra brake conversion. Doubt they have 10,000kms on them also.

Super happy with my Nitto NT555 G2’s for street use. A shame tho.. by the time they are 5-6yrs old they’ll have a whopping 2000km’s of use.

Edit: do you guys do any kind of conditioning when storing over the winter? Or just keep them warm?

Those would be the same wheels (and possibly same tires) as post #2, LOL

My car sleeps the winter in non heated garage. I bring in the tires so they stay in heated , no sun basement. The car is only in the sun when driven, live in the garage. I ve heard of conditioning, but haven t looked into that?? What I do now and because they aren t in the sun that much is prob enough for long tire life, except just plain time.... can t battle that :)
