Hi,

I have a 2019 Mustang GT PP2 (Stock tires). I noticed that under 3500RPM the car feels extremely slow and then suddenly wakes up at 4k+. Is this normal? My cousin (mechanic) not a ford guy and drives a 2018 corvette grand sport told me after driving the car "this car feels like it has 250-300 horsepower not 400+"

I am new to Ford and apologies if this is a noob question.

Welcome to TMC- congrats!

Nothing wrong with your car! as long as it does wake up?

You might not be doing it right. Get those revs up!!! 3500 rpm or under ? U maybe shifting up too early ! I know car may sound like it’s screaming to change gears but you need to rev it out higher - rocket that needle with the loud peddle to your shift points
I believe u hit 420 torque @4600 rpm!
Net hp 460 @7000
- just double check numbers

U want slow- u ride in my slo turd- now that’s slow

One of the things I found impressive about the newest 5.0 and it's calibration (we had both an auto n stick cars to demo at last two spring track days, thanks again to Blackstock Ford), torque exceeded my expectations in both versions, yes even pulling at lowish RPMs out of the corners. Keep in mind, words coming from a guy who drives a car with way more of both. Possible, level of sophistication n smoothness Ford has achieved is playing havoc with his butt meter.

I found mine didn't leave the line too aggressively - must be the way they are tuned - I didn't mind that tho it has advantages

My revs are all ready up just under 2000 or so before clutch dump- traction is more of the issue ( from a dig) , you never know when a race breaks out with a Corolla

Thank you all for the helpful advise. I heard a tune can go a long way with the 2018-2019. Also I think I need to change out the cup 2 tires sooner than later.

Going back to the tune. I heard about the Lund racing ngauge tune but I don’t know how that will work in Canada.

Any recommendation for proper tune that is similar?

Check the Ford Racing calibration/tunes. See if they have a Power Pack 1 or 2 available for your car.

The first mod a new 2018 or 2019 Mustang GT owner especially if it's an auto should get is a custom tune from Lund Racing.

Overhead cam engines tend to be weaker on the bottom end than pushrod engines.

But I can get the flex tune that allows 91 or 94 and do not need E85 right? After seeing so many videos, it seems like Lund Racing and E85 is the perfect match except we do not have E85 in Ontario from what I can see.

With a Lund Racing tune you will be able to run 91-94 octane (n/a set up) fuel because your PCM will make the small adjustments for the fuels but if you run E85 it will have to be a custom tune only for E85 since the timing can be turned up.
Here in Ontario there are a few of us running E85 and when we do it's for track purposes only since it's not easy to obtain, if you plan on running E85 make the trip to MI after they change to the summer blend of E85 and bring over 9 full 5 gallon jugs which you are allowed, also you will have to change your injectors to run the corn fuel.

If you require more information on Lund Tuning you can contact me any time since I am a Lund Racing dealer here in Ontario and my contact info is in my sig.
