Holy Fuck!

Quite the night, Neighbour from up the street was at the house till about midnight having some drinks with my Mom, I had already passed out before he left (or thought he did) woke up to a phone call at 3am, all could hear waas someone kept saying "Help…help…help" like, WTF?? then, got disconnected…then another call, same thing, "Help, help, etc". Turns out it was my neighbour… but had no idea what was going on, got up, started looking around, tried calling back a few times, no answer, after about 20min went outside and saw his ATV was at the bottom of the driveway, went over and was laying on the ground beside it frozen to the driveway! He must have fallen when he left, passed out, woke up and had the sense to call for help. Anyways, called 911 blah, blah, then I unstuck him from the driveway and dragged him up to the house and inside the door, took his coat off which was soaked and wrapped him up in a sleeping bag, till the paramedics arrived. They finally got here and asked a bunch of questions blah blah, I basically told them, "I don't think he's full on hypothermic, but definitely cold stressed, possibly mild hypo, I said I tried to keep him horizontal, got his wet clothes off and wrapped him in a sleeping bag, but I just can't lift him anymore, I'm fucking exhausted"

The paramedics were like "holy crap, good job, how do you know so much about this?" I said, "well… I’m an editor!" NO, I didn’t say that but basically just said, it's a subject I have a decent amount of knowledge in…

So anyways, they got him laid out on a stretcher and were off to the hospital and thanked me for my help a couple times, which I didn't really think much of it, cause to me I was just doing what I knew to help, guess they were impressed, dunno

Then, I drove his ATV home and walked back home (it's cold out!!) But anyways, I'm exhausted (he's a bigger guy than me) and just warming up myself a bit and then going to try to go back to sleep for a bit...

figured I'd share while I was warming back up myself...

I’ve fallen, and I’m stuck to the driveway.

I’m sure first responders have seen and heard everything. But that’s gotta be a first.
Great job Dave. You earned some good karma.

Good on you for the clear headed reaction - and probably in your pyjamas too.

I guess this is a PSA for drinking and driving ATVs in winter?

I meant your neighbour....a few doors away? Less likely to end up upside down, stuck to the road....

I still don't understand? He was walking...slipped and fell, could happen to anyone, I slipped the other day putting the garbage out...but luckily enough didn't hit my head

My bad....in reading it quickly I interpreted he fell off the ATV (he was next to it?) and was out.

oh ic... no he fell before he even made it to the ATV. And he had the ATV out before cause he was plowing peoples driveways in the subdivision with it earlier, not just to come visit
