I don't have any experience with these but I would put my money on the Roomba. I don't know who makes the Shark but Roomba is made by iRobot who is a pioneer in the robotic field and also make robots for security and military purposes. Not sure how much of that quality/engineering bleeds over to consumer division but I don't think Shark/Ninja have that pedigree.

If you have pets inclined to have "accidents" on your floor I advise against one.

My parents have one but don’t recall the make. Know they had a Samsung and it was stupid expensive and craped out after a month. Samsung would do nothing for it.

The one they have now has been amazing for my mom with her health issues. Just one less thing to have to worry about.

Couple things. It likes to get stuck under things (they now have a collection of yard sticks and zip ties in various places to keep it from getting stuck, under the tv stand as an example)

It follows you around. We are always joke that it’s listening to you, but if your in the living room it’s in there. If you leave and go to the computer room within a few min it’s in there. Go back to the living room and within a few min it’s back in the living room again

I have an old Roomba 500 series . It isn't wifi or anything. It will find anything under the bed that you didn't even know you had. It often gets stuck. It will happily wrap itself with wool. Gets stuck on wires, It pushes things around.
wouldn't waste my money buying an expensive one. They need to be emptied after every cycle.

There’s one that empties itself now.

We have the 960, had it for 2 years or so, been fantastic, wouldn’t hesitate at buying it again, but would go for the self emptying one. You do have to do a walk around to make sure small things are picked up, but it does a phenomenal job and is very thorough. Always surprising how much it picks up and gets.
We run it on wifi when we are not home,
Our main floor is around 1400-1500 sq ft, 75% hardwood, 20% tile and 5% area rugs.

I must be the only nut job that finds vacuuming therapeutic.

I come home to find under the dining room table is spotless and the is roomba with a dead battery after playing pinball with its self. Then I get out the old Tristar and vacuum old school. It’s a very expensive dog toy.
