View Full Version : Supercharger Financing:

Have always wanted to add boost to my GT, but just can afford to drop that much at one time.

Curious if there are shops out there that finance a supercharger purchase & install?

I realize that if you cant pay, you cant play.

Just curious if there are any options out there.

Interest rate on LOC may be lower than any shop financing.
Make out a re-payment plan and STICK to it if you go this route!!!!

Since it's a mod for a toy, to me, best to put the 5k away n add to it over time until you can pay cash.

“Line of credit and overdraft protection!!!”

:) Richard, if that’s what he really wants then we’ll figure out a way ( who am I to argue? I might be told to go f### himself lol)
Sure it may not be conventional- as far as repayment time wise to most of us- but it will be paid back . Maybe amount from loc ( when all said and done ) might costs double that when paid in full but he’s got his boost now and smiling from ear to ear now lol.

All kidding aside it’s the off season and OP has about half saved so just save some more and evaluate finances come driving season
Or trade it for a used GT 500

Oh Richard if we REALLY think about , what is loc for if you never gonna use it? :) stare at it online?

Emergencies? Roof? Window? Furnace replacement? If you don’t have any of those then this may be the emergency:) ( I need beer)

LOC is for investment - leverage and earn baby! And interest becomes tax deductible.

Yes I agree- but we’re not talking about that , we are talking “ where there is a will there is a WAY”

Yup, and that will can ideally make the money to pay cash for the toys. That's just me though (although I don't mind making money off folks who can't resist the marshmallow)..

Just helping finding a “ way”
On a side note you notice slo turd is in desperate need of boost and all this time it still doesn’t have boost.
( I’m really not an advocate of loc use for these things)

Yes, you pass the marshmallow test.

Rick's also advocated a prudent approach.

I'm too attached to my Mustang to give it up or trade for anything, original owner, lol.

Appreciate everyone's suggestions. Gonna wait & see what 2020 brings & make a decision from there.

Kinda wanna do a Coyote swap too.

If looking at used kits, get a mfg parts list n check each and every part is accounted for and in good shape.

Ehh... pay cash man.

I know a dude who borrowed from his home equity to make his 911 a beast.. but why do you own a 911 and have to remortgage your home for mods? Stupid imo.

Interest rate for a blower.. not worth it but that’s me. If I’m paying interest I’m buying a new to me ride.

If that’s the route you want to go I’d be surprised if a reputable speed shop won’t do it.

Just go find yourself a good used supercharger kit and have the seller bolt it on for ya. It its coming off the same car then it would be a piece of cake, and your 5 gran should just take care of it.

Which type of blower you plan on doing? If I still had my 02 GT it would have to be a positive displacement blower like the Kenne Bell kit for the edge cars.

If intended use is primarily street pounder, skip right over Pro Charger n similar and go right to a PD blower such as KB.

Also, been thinking to add a set of long tube headers with a boosted set up. Is this the right way to go?

Lastly, what kinda HP can I expect after spending this kinda money?

I want the gains, but do not want to sacrifice driveability. Litterly wanna turn key & go.

A PD blower like KB / M90 etc makes big low n mid range torque vs a Pro Charger which to me is more important / fun vs peak h/p.
Gains with headers on a milder set up are minimal, good mid pipe n cat back is really all you need unless targeting a max effort.
On mild set up n safe tune, expect to make 400/400 at the tires, yes it's capable of more if you desire.
While that may seem tame compared to some, keep in mind it'll start making appreciable power n torque in the 2000rpm range.

Like Rick said...you want torque not HP. Be prepared to be disappointed if you spend money on a procharger kit. I had an 02 GT before my Cobra that I put an intercooled Novi 2000 kit on. Badass blower but terrible on a street car. You slam the throttle and say to yourself "that's it"? There is a reason everything out there now runs a TVS or twin screw. GT500, ZL1, Hellcat, ZR1 you name it. Sounds like your budget is tight so anything more than 400hp/400tq is going to cost you your shortblock anyways. Have fun with your decision
