It was very good, 10 or 12 of their own variety on tap, outdoor bar. Tried a half dozen of them
Of course after surfing for a few hours each day and it being 40+ deg C any beer probably would have been enjoyable!

The only brand new beers from GLB are the black lager, Monty ESB and possibly Blue Caboose. The rest are re-releases or regular offerings. I see Lake Effect is back though. That one is great.

Just drink up the Badlands and then get you some GLB! Win win

I didn't know you could freeze milk until today when our neighbour showed up and asked us to store some milk in our freezer for her - wouldn't it separate? We buy the 4L bags which lasts about 1.5 weeks unless my wife makes yogurt then one week.

Many people I've talked too didn't know you can freeze milk. It does separate a bit when frozen, once it's thawed out it's perfectly fine.

Yeah we do - with 2-3 houses on either side and across the street. Flooded basement in the past, guy down the street brings his wet vac over, etc., rides to airport, I offer torque wrench when folks are changing wheels, etc. Kind of like Mayberry I guess.

I just looked in the chest freezer, seems the neighbour also brought over about 6 packs of chicken and a few pack of ground beef too.$$in addition to 8L of milk....lol. I'm sure if we run out she'll share.

Should I buy anything with oil- I heard its going Negative a barrel ?? lol- now I'm talking nonsense, Badlands hitting hard lol

Nah, not oil right now although they're really beaten up (already have some of those in equity funds) - I already had energy stocks in my portfolio (Enbridge, Encana) but picked up some more renewable infrastructure, utilities, retirement home companies, insurance companies, Dollarama, etc. Plus before that picked up some more of a couple banks I already had for a while.

Not finished yet - have more to buy but doing dollar cost averaging with purchases.

Wife sent me out for groceries to Longos today. What a weird experience, it was like this sort of Japanese Kabuki Theatre (Kabuki is a classical Japanese dance-drama. Kabuki theatre is known for the stylization of its drama and for the elaborate Kumadori worn by some of its performers), everybody trying their best at social distance, and not getting too close, the guy behind me at the cash started putting his stuff on before he should of, he couldn't get enough apologizes out to everyone around him poor guy(that is usually me the socially awkward one).
Anyways gave me a chance to get by the beer store, and pick up some Wellington, Muskoka and Lug Tread. Have depleted my reserves over the last week( had 2 Corona hiding at the back of the fridge)
Check out on Netflix "Tiger King", if you liked the "Making a murderer" documentary this fits right in.
Beer store Debit Credit was down (cash Only), saw a couple of guys walk away,
Cheers for now

Spent Thursday working on confirming a planting layout with lots of oystra virginiana. Of course on the drawings they are listed as OV. Had to grab some. Haven't had one in probably 15 years and it hasn't improved in that time.

Wood is from a giant branch that fell during a windstorm in the winter at my aunt’s place. Stone slinger was at the new McMansion they built 2 doors down. Huge patio being built out back. The operator drive it between the houses via remote control. Pretty cool.

I’ve thought of joining a beer club, but I’m not a fan of some styles of beer. Belong to a wine club, it’s not really an issue because there’s hardly a wine dislike. Also helps the wine club is reds only.

It was a trade, so essentially paid for. I find that some of the sours aren’t too bad but some are super sour and not really my thing. This was one of those.

I’ve also thought about joining a beer club, but I’d be upset if there was a whole month of beers I didn’t enjoy.

Yeah - they said they're not happy with how their shopping cart worked either. They're learning as they go and said the cart is supposed to hold the items added but the software vendor is a small shop so all the functionality is not intact (some company called Weebly). I contacted someone at work this afternoon to see if we have something that works better than what they have.

Have you tried a "Gose" before? I'm not sure if I've had one before - Bandit had one listed previously but did not grab it when I was there a couple weeks ago.

It’s a German sour wheat beer. Had a gose last summer. I was not a fan (had fruit in it), but my wife liked it.

Title should be "What haven't I been Drinking"! Anyways joined the queue at our local beer store to take back what I have consumed over the past 6 weeks (took about an hour) , had to get the evidence out of the garage before my family put me in the 12 step program! I had about 130 returns to go against my next purchases, which were a sampler pack from Wellington Brewery, my new favourite Cause and Effect, and my old standby of Muskoka brewery.
Only annoying thing was the lady in front of me was cold, but she had these annoying hard sole shoes she kept stomping/clacking to get warm, after an hour I was ready for a drink! Can't load the video,as it's local to my PC.
Cheers

I will have 4 different ones soon, hopefully, so my friend and I are going to taste them all to see what each brewer changed. Badlands, Town Brewery, Collective Arts, and Counterpart. I would have more if I could cross the border, but as we all know that is a definite no-no

Caledon isn't too far for a Saturday drive for you to pick up - only issue is they sell out quickly on Friday evening when they go online (about 2-3 minutes).

I’m a little pissed actually, even with the 3 bottle limit I haven’t been able to get any!
I’m crossing over to GLB- and I think my area qualifies for express delivery ( something like order by a certain time and get it in the afternoon) have to read the fine print:)

Tasty Robocop last night. The Badlands from mid-week but wasn't a fan of this particular brew.

Opened the Baco Noir to pair with dinner last night so this is part two. HoP does a nice Baco that never disappoints.

Friend of mine is brewing his own beer now. This is the fourth so far. West Coast IPA. If I was to rate it against regular beer it would be 3.75 out of 5 but for a home brew it gets a definite 4.75!

The Levitate was more dank and bitter than the Elevate. The Elevate was sweeter, fruitier, and creamier. They were equally good, maybe the Elevate was older so that may have made a difference.

The Sou’ wester was a typical west coast ipa. More bitter and hoppy than an east coast one.

Interesting comparison. I wonder if age would have that much effect - Elevate was bottled Feb 13.

I love the slight difference in the label (cat added).

I had a bottle of the Basil Hayden last year - was quite nice but I preferred the slightly sweeter Woodford Reserve. Do you consider the BH a keeper based on your experience with bourbons? I hadn't considered the Canadian options like Collingwood before - bottle worthy to try? Say compared to Woodford, Elijah Craig, etc?

those are all Rye whiskey's in the photo.

Collingwood rye is mellowed in maple barrels, making it smoother and sweeter. The BH dark rye is KY rye, Canadian rye and port blend. It has a softer, sweeter taste and is a nice change. My favorites are Still the Whistle Pig and Nikka rye's.

If you're palate is for sweeter bourbons look to Blantons, Bakers, or Michters. All are sweeter but progressively more expensive.

A good value bourbon is the Knob Creek, which is the bourbon equivalent of the scotch staple Highland Park 12. Both the KC and HP12 hit the sweet spot of value/flavor.

all of the above should be enjoyed neat, without adulteration of ice, water or soda.

Ah got it - I had the BH Kentucky Bourbon but didn't notice the label/juice was a different colour. Yes, palate does lean sweeter so will look for those three bourbons mentioned. Thanks!

Yes, always neat unless it's an Old Fashioned or Manhattan.
