Are you allowed near there?

Grocery yes- necessity
LCBO no go
Meet up for “shampoo” definitely no go! Even trip to the office- becoming no go :)

I’m not following the ultimate premier either- see the numbers and suggested mask usage :)

I just drink my carbonated beverage and pretend it’s beer

Sister and brother-in-law were passing through town from Ottawa and did me a 'kind'. They dropped of a few brews they picked up from White Water Brewing Co. in Cobden. The first was an English IPA, Class V...close to a true English bitter.

Another was Front Porch, a Kolsch-Style ale, from Calabogie Brewing Co. Lives up to it's name, great for sitting on the deck on a hot summer day and cooling yourself down with it's crisp clean taste.

Nice! Plan to visit Crimson - have not heard of that brewery but if next door I'll check it out.

Ghost Orchid was very nice - more traditional hoppy IPA versus the really juicy stuff I've been getting at Badlands/Bandit/Blood Brothers. I got Double Jutsu from Mike a couple weeks ago and I preferred that style a little more. I picked up a few so can save you one if you like.

I have not been back to Waterloo in a very long time, but I just learned that the old Brick Brewery has been replaced by .......condos.

At least they incorporated the face of the old building into the new building. While I attended UW, our class used to take a “tour” of the brewery every year. We would “sample” many beers. It may have contributed to me being an alcoholic. Ah... good times.

Ahh, the brewery "tours". Got asked to leave once because I started pouring for myself while the guy was in the brewing room. I think I went out for a smoke and all was good when I came back. Ordered pizza to there on a couple of tours too.

Right now I'm enjoying an export.

We showed up once, tour guide was already drunk. She was the only one there and she designated one of us as “bartender” as she took 1/2 the group in for the brewery tour. All she asked was that we keep tally of the beers poured.

Both are good - Haze Mama would have the edge I think but good choices. Did you sneak out to get those?

Ya , I checked the LCBO parking lot and store- waited about 45 mins in my car for the store to clear- maybe 2 customers in wine section, nobody in beer section :)

Wore my face shield and mask :)
Now will isolate for 2 weeks and wait for any symptoms

A few of this weekends selections. Third Moon and Badlands never disappoint.

Hazy Four-Four was a session ipa, aka less alcohol, from Big Rig, was good and I could crush a few of these on a hot afternoon.

Halo and Rouge River were courtesy of Richard. Halo was a very good DIPA but the Rouge River stole the weekend! Fantastic colab between Badlands and Rouge River! I could drink these every night! Thanks again Richard.

Nice selection for a hot day! The RR collab was great - curious to see if they do anything else for Badland's 3rd anniversary in August.

Had the Peach IPA from Unibroue... 6.0% abv and brewed with Cascade, Galaxy, Citra and Lemondrop hops. Liked it..was peachy with a nice bitter finish...

Also into WhiskeyJack's Cold Front. It's a cream ale and is great for hot muggy days...

Had a visitor from NOTL up in Bolton today so while there was no shampoo in sight, there was cold beer. Was a nice day to kick back for a couple hours and shoot the breeze with Mike (CDNfyrfytr) - hope the drive home was fun. Finished up the day with a DIPA from Blood Brothers.

Um yeah - we been posting them. Raccoon in a space helmet?

May be heading there tomorrow as i want to pickup more Orage DIPA which was pretty tasty if they haven't sold out. If you're down that way check out Bellwoods on Ossington which isn't too far (Henderson is 5 minutes from Bandit as well; Halo is about 10 minutes and Blood Brothers is about 10 minutes as well - all really close but Toronto traffic and lights means 2km would take 10 minutes...lol) - I pre-ordered these for pickup so doing that tomorrow also (if you're interested in them I would recommend pre-ordering):

https://www.bellwoodsbrewery.com/collections/available-online/products/bellweiser-pink-grapefruit

https://www.bellwoodsbrewery.com/collections/available-online/products/monogamy-el-dorado

Based on what Bandit has listed in their bottle shop as of now (could change by tomorrow) I like Orage and Dew for a smooth, citrusy DIPA, and Hoppelganger for a hot weather pilsner (although not my favourite pilsner).

D'oh, Like Morneau and not remembering to pay WE for his expenses (and maybe a villa somewhere), as soon as you said Raccoon, it all came back to me.
The Toronto traffic is the only negative on my end, so use to parking in the suburbs and not having to spend a lot of time navigating for parking. Cheers!

LOL, these politicians are gangster.

Never had any issues with street parking at Bandit as you can usually find a spot close to it and it's usually quick in the bottle shop when I've been there....but I guess it depends on the time you go. Henderson has their own parking. Bellwoods can be tough for parking as Ossington is pretty tight in that area but Sundays isn't too bad (I got as spot right in front last time I was there but now I pre-order and pickup at their Hafis Rd location which is close to Keele and 401. Not sure what Saturdays are like on Ossington.

Halo isn't too bad for street parking but might have a 1-2 minute walk, and never had a problem at Blood Brothers but can get busy in the area as there Knockout Ice Cream down the street, and a couple food places (eg. Burger Ave). Blood does good smashburgers and fried chicken sandwiches too.

Tasty - we had sushi from a local spot tonight as well (well, mostly maki). Paired it with the new DIPA from Third Moon which was preceded by a pale ale from Town.

So there’s this wine I like from Portugal. I know a couple of restaurants in Toronto that sell it but it’s not available at the LCBO. Did some searching online and I can buy some.. but only delivered to the states. Anyone got some tips on how to get my hands on some? CBP won’t do alcohol.

Edit: I know of a few importers that can get it but I’m not trying to pay $50 a bottle when it costs 5 euros.

Ponte da Barca. It’s not a fancy wine.. just delicious. Wines like this only come from the northern regions of Portugal. It’s a red “green” wine.

That's tough - any importer will probably markup a lot. I guess one option is to wait until the border opens and ship a couple cases to CBI then go pickup.

You can ship to their location^^ once you register and they give you an account number (no fee) then have the case(s) shipped there, then go pickup at your convenience near the fashion outlet mall in Niagara Falls (US side). You'll have to declare coming back across but you'll just have to pay tax and alcohol duties (usually almost 100% markup but given how cheap it is you'll still be at a low price per bottle).

Currently the border is closed until the end of this month but not sure if it will be extended again.

I've had stuff from international spots shipped there and done this because either the seller wouldn't ship to Canada or was cheaper to ship into US.

Post shampoo exchange meetup, with Mike and his better half, beers - figured I'd take advantage of the nice weather and enjoy a couple cold brews (DIPA and TIPA). Also, the bottle of red wine we polished off earlier this weekend with the appropriate food pairing for a full bodied, soft tannin, dark berry forward wine.

Another great shampoo exchange with Mike and his better half - great day to meet up outside....little windy cool but the sunshine was nice. No pics but 2 stangs in the wilds of Milton. Followed by a trip into T.O for cheeseburger at Burger Drop in Liberty Village, then up to Knockout Ice Cream to pick up some Creme Brulee ice cream before heading over to Dutch Dreams for some Espresso ice cream, and lastly Bellwoods for their annual wet hopped IPA.

Friday evening brew was this fantastic Third Moon DIPA "Blood Dimmed Tide", then Saturday's brews, "Bine Hunter" the wet hop ale, and Collective Arts "IPA No. 14" (@LCBO).

Today's brews - hot day, working outside so the Devil's Trill XV-Run to the Trills (Blood Brothers DIPA) and Gravity Blast (Rainhard IPA) cooled things down - both tasty. The Bellwoods Milkshark IPA was tasty but different - Don would not approve due to the blueberries....basically 7% blueberry beer. (paired with chili for dinner).

Nice!!
Agree with Don” no fruit in beer” :)
I think those are “coolers” often see the ladies drinking them :)

That ones not bad. Dry hopped means they add dried hops during the later parts of the brewing process. Wet hops means they add fresh hops. They do it to a lot of beers. Sours are quite often hit or miss. Either really good or horrible.

Blood Brothers Pale was nice and some was the Double Juicebox. Thanks for the share Richard.

Best Friend is from a fairly new brewery in Cambridge called Sparrow. Couple I’ve had have been pretty good. Will definitely be stopping there next time I’m in the area.

Yep. Better than Can. But it’s also had time to mellow. I have another Can so I’ll be able to tell better when I drink that.

Tranquility was also very good, started off meh, but get way better as it warmed up.

Cool - will have to remember that for the TM as I usually start them in the freezer but sounds like I should start with fridge and let it warm up as I enjoy it.

Getting the vert ready for storage, wash and waxed before covering it up.
Dropped by Collective Arts Friday as I had some service in the Hammer. Hard to believe the old lake port site would produce such great beer.
I think my tolerance for the higher octane beer in the +7% range is coming around.
The DIpas at 7.1, and 8.2% would have put me out on the first can.
The Mill Street tastes like water compared to these.

No. 14 seems available at a fair number of LCBOs which is good. I picked up a couple No. 13's recently which re running low in stock at the remaining LCBOs you can still find it at (I prefer No. 14 though).
