Here are a couple of quick phone shots of the 2017 GT that I picked up yesterday. Less than 22,000 km, originally from Alberta. It's had a repair on the right front corner but it doesn't seem that anything structural was damaged, I'm guessing a fender and maybe a headlight. Paint blend on the hood isn't 100% but I'm not super picky about that sort of thing. The car was about $2K under market value according to the scale on Auto Trader, that was sort of the idea of making an off-season purchase to see if a deal could be had.

It is a manual trans of course, has the Performance Pack, and also the base interior with the Recaro seat option. Triple Yellow Tricoat with the black painted roof. Previous owner had Roush mufflers installed, a decent tint job, and clear film paint protection applied on many key areas. So I think that it was reasonably well bought at $32K. Car went straight to a friend's storage spot yesterday, thankfully the weather cooperated. Now the wait until spring!

That's Awesome Ed, Congratulations again!

I've always been partial to Yeller... my first GT was SY, it's a loud colour but that painted roof helps break it up, it looks sharp!!

This is kinda GR cliché I guess... but any plans for any type of wing on the back in the future?

Thanks everyone. The yellow is not a usual sort of pick for me, Grabber Blue would have been my first choice but yes the black roof certainly helps to tone down the yellow a bit. And yes I have been looking to see what's out there for front splitters and rear wings that actually do something but they are probably not mods that I will do right away.

First mod will be a square wheel & tire fitment ... I thought about getting another pair of the rear PP wheels which are 9.5" wide but then I found online that they are over 32 lbs. per corner! So I will be looking at aftermarket options instead, leaning toward the Fast Wheels FC04 which are less than 22 lbs. in the same size. Other thing to be done straight away is some heat shielding on the exhaust in the area of the diff housing. Some people have experienced overheating of the diff which will put the car in to a reduced power mode. From what I've read in the track section of the Mustang 6G forum, several people have had success with shielding and also changing the diff fluid to thicker 75W140 to withstand the temp a bit better.

My SVO and Jag will be up for sale. I didn't drive the XJR at all last summer, and the SVO got limited usage, partially because I had that nice Mustang Ecoboost manual trans car for a demo during that time. I've gotten to the point where I'm a bit spoiled driving the newer cars, and I just don't feel like wrenching on the older ones. I could do some big mods and get the SVO to the point where it would be capable of running briskly around the track, but I would be paying someone else to perform most of the work. Getting lazy in my old age I guess, I just want to drive the toy and not have to do much wrenching on it.

Nice wheels. I was supposed to get a set for winter use last year but got something else. Those are nice and light. Great choice and the price is great.

Though I prefer the titanium colour version of the FC04 wheel, I think that the black will suit the car better:

Congratulations Ed, you will definitely will enjoy that GT! Don’t rule out the SVE wheels from LMR. I have had 2 sets of them on my GT and they have been great. Weight is not bad as I believe the 19x10 are 24lbs each but the best part is that the hubs and offsets are designed for this car.

Being hub centric means not having to deal with hub rings or adapters and offsets designed for the S550 allow for aggressive tire fitment that don’t poke or sit too far in. Icing on the cake is the factory centre cap fits many of their wheels.

Running a 285/35/19 square on SVE wheels for track use is no issue at all. I currently run that up front with a 325/30/19 rear on the street without any problems.

Congrats on the new ride!
Next mod on your list after the wheels should be an aftermarket shifter, in my opinion it’s the best mod you can do to this car.

I was looking at those, and would certainly prefer 10" over 9.5", but by the time I get them here the price will be almost double what I'd be paying for the Fast Wheels ... not sure that I can justify that. Would rather support the Canadian company, even if they are in Quebec! LOL The owner of Fastco is a very nice Anglo gentleman who happens to be a Mustang lover and racer too.

I was looking into it and found those fast wheels are flow formed also for their competition series. Strange they only offer 9.5” wide wheel in 19” diam. They have their own fast race team and I’d be surprised if they only run 9.5”. If they made a 10.5 I’d buy them for sure! Maybe they do make them for their race team. Might be worth looking into Ed.

They run 18x10" FC04 on their S197 race cars which are limited to using the 14" brakes. I'd love if they had 19x10.5", I'd do those as a square setup. There are some 18s out there (Apex Racing wheels) that will clear the 15" PP brakes, but the Fast wheels do not unfortunately. The 18" Apex wheels might end up being another purchase later to put track-only tires on. They are light and flow-formed but also $500ish per corner.

You need to get in on a group buy. Check out track mustangs online on Facebook. Apex wheels are the ones I really want. Lots of size options and good quality

I would have went with these most likely except for the fact that the 'R' wheel doesn't even come in 'R' Spec which I think it ridiculous... maybe they thought nobody would buy that size? Would have been a hell of a lot cheaper than the wheels I went with (which are now stuck at the customs FFS) were supposed to be here tomorrow...that's not going to happen now :(

There is a set of 19x9.5 Shelby wheels with rubber on kijiji for $800. They are factory forged also. The fast wheels weigh around 23lbs and Shelby 28/29

Congrats Ed!!! I'm really loving these S550's lately. Now that I'm Mustang-less for the first time in several years.......I've got my eye on these for the next Stang...likely for 2021. Enjoy!
