From what I've seen on other peeps rides, key is to find experienced hands that use nothing but high end / won't discolor products.

Any of them that I have seen no matter how low or high the quality will eventually show a dirt line where the film starts/ends.

try The Refinery in Toronto. He does amazing work, place speaks for itself. He did my Porsche and will be doing my Mustang. Both PPF and ceramic coat.

I’ve always gone to Joe at AMP Motorsport in Concord/Vaughan area. 3 of my cars and both of my brothers cars. They do high end vehicles too and also dealership requests.

Whatever you do, don’t do half cuts. Go for full coverage. Doing a half cut on a hood is silly as most likely a rock will hit the unprotected area.

CON VERT

Is PPF the way to go , I see some vinyl ? that also looks good .

xeninworx
08-24-2020, 12:27 PM
PPF yes if you want paint protection. Vinyl if you want to change the colour on your car without having to paint. If you don’t like it, tear it off.

XPEL PPF has a gloss finish and a matte finish as well.

Definitely don’t do a half cut.. my buddy had it done on his old ride and like stated above.. 4/5 years later a giant black dirt mark right across the hood.

I had my Jag done last summer. A place called Spa for Cars on Wellington in Aurora. Fair price, excellent work. Without it the little parking lot altercation would have been far worse

Ceramic Coating and PPF should also be covered by insurance. My wife’s car was covered by insurance after the 2 accidents on her Accord.

Thought I'd revive this thread, & see if anyone else had it done , closer to Ajax would help, there is lots of places but a recommendation would help allot ! a 10 year warranty is not worth a shit if they close their doors in a year or two !!!

You could call AMP and ask them if they know reputable shops in your area or they can come to you as they do mobile service as well.

That’s actually how I ended up going to AMP. Called a different shop initially and they recommended me to AMP because they were booked up at the time.

Here are some quick photos of some of the work that was done. I am hard pressed to tell where they applied the product on the vehicle. I literally had to feel for it. Now if only my shoulder would heal I can detail it and seal the paint. :( :( :(

The guy who did my car wrapped it around and into the seam of the joints. You cannot tell where it stops.

So they did custom cuts for you. They told me that these are factory programmed cuts. I am OK with this.

The precuts are fine with me too. It’s so close to the edge that getting a chip or scratch there is highly unlikely. Not sure if the preprogrammed cuts allow for extra to do a wrap around.

I'm not criticizing. This was the first time I've had it done, and that's the way they did it. I knew nothing about the process, what's good, bad, or ugly. I wouldn't have known to ask for it or not. But, no. F-types are not exactly found on every corner, and they did not have a pre-cut kit available.

Awesome. When I went to him 4 years ago he took the car the next day. Since then he’s gotten much busier. If you see a 2006 silver Civic Si with HFP skirts and HFP wheels there, that was my old car.
