Unifor says it has struck a tentative deal with General Motors that will see vehicle production return to Oshawa.
The union says the tentative $1.3 billion deal will create at least 2,000 jobs starting in 2021.
In a statement, GM said it plans to invest $1 billion to 1.3 billion in the plant, with the expected hiring of 1,400 to 1,700 hourly workers.

Ontario is floundering and if it takes money to get the money n jobs flowing, I'm ok with that.

There's a company in Michigan "Rivian" - I've read they may partner with GM for electric pickups - this reopening may be temporary so I really hope we don't dump tons of our cash into it....

Although it is nice that GM has decided to reopen (for now), Oshawa should really take this opportunity to explore options to reinvent itself.

With GM’s history of cut throat corporate behaviour it’s only a matter of time until they find themselves in the same bad situation.
