Upscale grocer Whole Foods Market is not allowing its workers to wear poppies in its Canadian stores this month, saying its dress code policy restricts workers from making even the smallest addition.
“With the exception of those items required by law, our dress code policy prohibits any additions to our standard uniform,” a company spokesperson told CP24 of the news which was first reported by the CBC.
“Whole Foods Market honours the men and women who have and continue to bravely serve their country. We support Remembrance Day in all of our Canadian stores by observing a moment of silence on November 11th and by donating to the Legion's Poppy Campaign,” the spokesperson said.

Likely US policy trying to be applied outside domestic and they don't understand Remembrance Day? I'm glad it's getting press coverage.

I suspected along the same reasoning.

Didn't take long to rethink that one.

Canada’s Veterans Affairs Ministers says upscale grocer Whole Foods Market will now allow its workers to wear poppies in its Canadian stores, after it earlier said its dress code policy restricted workers from doing so.
“Just spoke to the Chief Operating Officer of Whole Foods,” Lawrence MacAulay wrote on Twitter. “Employees will now be able to wear their poppies at work.”
“The poppy represents those who have served, fought and died for Canada, and it’s deeply personal to everyone here,” he said. “Glad to hear they’re changing course.”

The chain had previously said it prohibits any additions to work uniforms, including something as small as a poppy.

There always a couple of corporate Knuckleheads every year, Lest We Forget.
Could see if it was a MAGA hat though...

One of the stupidest policies I have ever heard about. I am right smack in the middle of their ideal demographic, repeat customer and will be happy to spend my money elsewhere.

Sad.
Amazing what some bad press coverage can do to change their minds, lol.
I have never heard of that store before.

The US HR policy is based on that but doesn't translate as well outside the US. Goodyear in Ohio had an issue with Trump and faced calls for a boycott recently because of trying to enforce something like this.

I was never a fan of that place. Overpriced bunch of snobs shop there. And the one by me has racist asshats shopping there.
