Getting ready to pull my pushrod 302 and I had my buddy make me a lift plate that bolts to the lower intake in place of the plenum . My question is has anyone done this and had it go wrong ?

I'm slightly skeptical that the aluminum intake is capable of supporting the engine and I dont wanna drop it .

The lift plate is well built and uses all six holes to attach it

Any insight?

A 302 is about 450 lbs? So that’s 75 lbs per bolt?

5/16” bolts?

A 5/16” lag screw in Douglas fir is good for 200lbs, so I would think a 5/16” bolt in aluminum would be at least that much.

Seen more than one dropped over the years using lift plate on the intake when bolts / studs pulled out.
