Montreal style bagels (from wood fired oven) - where do you get yours from? Favourite is from St. Viateur's but seeing as I'm not in Montreal.....

Started picking them up from Bothams on Dundas Street West last year - they are out of the oven daily.

Haven't been to Kettleman's yet but will swing by to the Etobicoke location soon to try their Montreal bagels (another wood oven). They have some nice cream cheese options too.

There’s an episode of Somebody feed Phil and he goes to a bagel shop in Montreal. They explained the way they bake theirs. Pretty sure I’ve had bagels from the same place as I used to live in Montreal but that was 20 years ago.

Most likely St. Viateur's.

Kettleman's uses the same process. I know Bothams bakes theirs in the wood oven too but I'm not sure if all the prep before that is the same.

That's cool - love Schwartz's too. I usually go to Centre Street Deli (near Promenade Mall) for Montreal smoked meat sandwiches....haven't heard of Teddy's before. Those bagels look good too.

When I'm in the area I always pick up a dozen of Gryfe's bagels, nice and light you can eat 3 on the way home. They're at 3421 Bathurst St. in case anyone was wondering.

Best smoked meat I've had in a long time is Sumilicious on Steeles Ave just west of MArkham road.
Best bagels? it's a toss up. Probably Gryfes.

I tried their Smoked meat Steve ^^ and it was more corn beefy than smoked to me , Next time out in Oshawa go to Teddys and have one of theirs , reasonably priced, $10.49 for a piled high sammi, and a mess of fries, regular restaurant but has great food !

^^^ Minor correction to Glen's comment for those searching for Teddy's in Whitby...It's actually in Oshawa @ #2/Park rd.
