When was the last time you changed (or cleaned if it's serviceable) your furnace filter??
Found 3 pack to fit my furnace on Amazon for pennies on the dollar vs local big box.

Did you know many smoke and CO2 detectors have an expiry date??
Don't forget to replace batteries as a matter of good maint.

Good reminder ZR. I think I'm due to change my filter.

I learned this summer that burning candles not only wreak havoc on my sinus cavity but they do a great job at plugging up a furnace filter too.

Try beeswax (natural) candles.

Another good practice, is keeping your gas meter cleared of snow and ice. In an emergency, being able to shut off the gas valve quickly can be advantageous.

Another annual thing for me is battery change in digital thermostat thats for furnace/airconditioner. I also use the Amazon furnace filters , change frequently as have two hairy Huskies...frequent brushes but still..

After talking with a friend recently who had no idea it was a thing. During the winter (or I guess even fall with leaves accumulating) good idea after a snow storm to make sure your furnace / water heater vents are clear.

Also guys don’t forget to check the humidifier and make sure it’s working properly, I keep my home at 38 percent relative humidity. Also Make sure the humidifier filter gets changed once a year.

Every year, cleaning the house takes less and less time, so children grow up and make less mess, cleaning equipment becomes better and more autonomous, and besides, there are more companies with cleaning services, which led to a decrease in the cost of the service and more popularity among people. I remember how before I had to spend almost a whole day cleaning the carpets in the house, but now I don't spend any time on this at all. My wife uses the local steam cleaning (https://www.beyondcarpet.ca/) service, so this is no longer my concern. By the way, cleaning carpets with more saturated cleaning agents and using professional equipment takes only 40 minutes. It's really beneficial and more effective.
