Maybe if they brought over the Falcon Ute and called it a ranchero. This is a 97 I think

Usually the Ranchero was based off the mid-size platform that Ford had at the time (other than the early 60s Falcon Rancheros) ... Taurus was their mid-size in that era.

I agree though, body lines certainly don't suit it.

That is horrible. Those were ugly to start with and 25 years hasn't made them look any better.
