For anyone interested, it didn't work. The back of the gauge is a 1/4" npt, the hookup kit doesn't come with a female 1/4". The fitting kit also seems to mix coarse and fine thread, so a direct adapter is unlikely. I found another fitting at princess auto that would've made it work but there would be 4 connection points just on the gauge end. I figured too much chance for leak. I returned it (love PA's return policy) and ordered a cheap gauge kit.
