I watched the game. England came out strong but Italy definitely played better on the second part of the first and most of the second half. Too bad the officials were only calling fouls on England.

I'm sorry but deciding a game of this importance on penalty kicks is just wrong. In extra time both teams were playing not to lose, there was will to win. They were both playing to get to the kicks. Why bother playing the game?

I see your point Stephen. I guess the same holds true with hockey.

Ahaha I wish those people celebrating would put as much effort in to Canada Day. A big FU to all those flying flags of other countries on July 1st.

In the NHL playoffs, games are not decided on penalty shots. You play the game until someone wins.

On Canada day on a normal year the only flags I ever see are rainbow Coloured flags……

The endurance needed in this game is a lot different than hockey. 120mins is definitely enough.

Once upon a time the World Cup Champions were determined with a coin toss. Penalty kicks is a lot better than a flip of a coin imo.

Comparing Hockey to Soccer is like comparing a Mustang to a Pickup Truck, no comparing the 2 what so ever. Those guys are constantly running up and down the field not gliding on ice. The problem is we here in NA watch fast paced sports and when a soccer tournament comes along we're looking for speed and action.

We'll agree to disagree on the running vs. skating, but I will put this out there for you footballers to ponder. If there are to be penalty kicks to decide the game, they should take place before the game starts. Hear me out. If Italy knows they have won the penalty kicks before the game starts, and they are down by a goal, they will do everything in their power to try and tie the game. Conversely, if England and Italy are tied, and England knows that Italy has already won the penalty kicks, they will go like hell to try and take the lead. This will eliminate the all to popular playing not lose aspect of the "game". Discuss.

…gliding on ice.
LOL, it’s not the Ice Capades.
There’s a reason shifts are typically only about a minute.
