Base interior in a Cougar was the optional deluxe interior in a Mustang. Back then pretty much of all the Mercs including the Cougars were a few inches longer than their Ford counterparts. Thinking was, you paid more for a Mercury, you should be getting a bigger car.

Still miss my 68 a bit. If I get another Cougar I think I'd go for a 70 next time.

Same here with my 67s but I'd stick with the 67-68.

I'd certainly consider a 67-68 again as well. But I have this idea in my head of what I'd do with a 70, which is make it a restomod based on "what if they continued running Cougars in the Trans-Am series after 67?" and do the wheels and spoilers sort of like the Mustangs running in 1970.

I've always like the Cougars and considered getting one if I didn't find a good mustang when I was looking.

I went to school with a guy who has been restoring them since the 80's and still does. I'm not sure how many he has saved to date but some of his cars are super rare. He's working on a total unicorn right now that was owned by Henry Ford II. It has a few one of one features and options.

Cool cars with a great place in history.

Al, what's the name of the guy you're talking about? Wondering if it is someone I knew through that club. Doug Gamoff is a name that comes to mind in your general area.
