View Full Version : Sad day. Out with the old. In with the new

For many reasons, I traded my beloved Jaguar in today for a new F250, which my son will drive. A big reason was that with my mostly healed fractured hip, getting into the car and especially out of it was...difficult.
The new truck has a diesel, and will be used for snowplowing. This makes our 23rd vehicle from Bill since 2012.

Mods, please help. I don't know why my images come out upside down, and I can't seem to control them. I hope you can fix this for me.

Oh good. I thought it was only me.

Beautiful looking truck, to be honest I'd rather daily drive that F250 than the Jag myself.

Not me. I am simply not a truck guy. It's so high up it's harder for entry and exit than the Jag and it's so BIG. Adam will be the main driver and he loves it.

One of the main reasons for getting the new F250 was because getting in/out of the Jag was difficult. But the F250 is more difficult than the Jag. Am I the only one confused by this decision?

Reading between the lines I think he's saying the Jag was no longer enjoyable to own so it was flipped in to something that can generate money and be used while he will most likely be driving another car.

Please note: I already said that my son Adam will be the primary driver of the f-250. He loves trucks. I don't. I will only drive that beast if I absolutely have to.
I let the Jag go because of the difficulty of entry/exit, and the impracticality of it. The trunk is ridiculously small and there is no room in the cockpit even for my wife's carry-all purse. None of this mattered to me when I bought it as it is an exhilarating car to drive, but I'm semi retired now and the Jag is not a car to drive to Florida in, which is what we will be doing most winters. I loved that car and wouldn't hesitate to buy another, if my leg was 100%.
In the meantime, I was going to put the car into storage till April anyway, so this way I have no payments and no insurance costs, and we saved all that HST on the new truck.
Come spring I will either order a new Mustang or perhaps do like my brother: find a desperate lease holder and get paid to take over the lease on a nice car.

Sorry for my lack of car buying know-how, but how can you take over a lease on a nice car and get paid to do it?
Are you saying you saved paying the previous first owners payments? So only paying the balance?
Thanks.

Check out "Leasebusters". There are plenty of people who need to get out of their lease and are willing to pay someone an incentive to take it over.
