the cell providers essentially have a cartel which wouldn't be possible without regulatory support. who's interests do the regulators serve?

Too funny, in getting food at subway. Guy behind us had to go to the bank to get cash to pay for his food. How do you not have $20 cash on you?

I stopped for a coffee in Toronto yesterday and they refused to accept cash.

A digital only currency system is dangerous unless you conform with the thought police.

Prudent to always do so, remember the great black out, no cash meant no nothing.

Since the beginning of Covid, I haven't carried more than a couple of bucks in cash. Everything by debit or credit

I saw some tweets that Tesla owners couldn't get into their cars. If true, inconvenient now but ominous.

Apparently Chinese diplomats etc are banned from using Tesla's as they are considered rolling listening devices.

Looks like I am old school.

I always carry cash,at least $200+ in my wallet and pay for most things in cash and rarely use debit.
I don't like or trust this electronic debit bullshit.

As for Rogers they can go fuck themselves.
Had a TV problem recently where some channels were scrambled or would disappear and come back.
Took about a month and a half to resolve.
Most of the customer service reps and the 3-4 techs that came were useless.
They sent a new Nextbox by courier and it was damaged with part of it sticking out of the box.Returned it then one of the techs had a good one in his truck.
One rep refused to send a tech guy, lol.
Turned out to be a problem at their end,old box and taps were ok.
Rogers charges too much.

Is Bell or anyone else any better?

Based on months n months of issues when we first changed over, not a freakin bit.

the 5 providers operate as a cartel with protection from regulators. They draw off enough profit to grease all the palms.

no difference between them.

this outage, while inconvenient, shows one of the great vulnerabilities of this corrupt system.

My home phone is still offline and my internet is spotty at best. I spent more than two hours on the phone with Arlo support trying to get my video doorbell back online, only to have my wifi blip off again and no the doorbell is offline, again. Stupid Rogers.

So you haven’t had anybody try and scam, solicit, or sell you anything all weekend?

When my smart phone dies I won't be replacing. I might get a flip phone. If I land a contract I'll have a corporate smart phone that will be sand boxed from my personal stuff. I have no wifi devices or personal digital assistants. The price of conveniences are too high for my taste. The Big Brother reality series is playing out in your homes.

The vast majority of young people are swipers or tappers exclusively. This is largely due to their inability to count to 10 though:drool: Seriously though, most of you kids nowadays can barely tie shoes let alone provide correct change or ensure you get the correct change.

$20.00? I could come up with that by checking my console or if given long enough the floor of my truck.

I never ever carry cash, pay for everything with a CC. Cash back dollars are around $100-150 a month and it is easier to track previous purchases

I don't even have my debit card with me 90% of the time to even be able to access cash
