Hope I am not talking out of line here, but I think we need a separate place to talk about food, recipes and tips on cooking. Hope I am not talking out of line here.
We are all grown up men, so we can talk about these issues, and pass on pics and recipes from our knowledge of day to day cooking.
Secondly wife bought some hot dogs from a large box store, I spit them out. Over 50% sodium!!
I told her just to buy a box of salt next time.
Anybody have input on a place that sells the dogs that are more healthy. Don't eat them very often just a occasional treat for grandkids.
Sorry to cry but I have a heart condition so a little is OK but 50% and I am feeling it.
Living in London so need a national chain that I can buy from locally.
Thanks

Still high in sodium, but Baldwin Street Franks are my favourite, they clock in at 32%

sorry, not a national chain. I can barely find them here. But if you ever get the chance… best hotdog ever. way better than Nathan’s IMO

Don’t listen to Richard. Good hotdogs are delicious!

No problem at least I haven't heard anybody lighting a flame thrower yet. Now how about a girls cooking section??

I’m not a hot dog guy. But there is a little place here in Hensall called Metzgers meats, small local abattoir. They draw people from a long way away for their stuff. Apparently their hotdogs are pretty darn good.

I heard that name before, but I didn't ever drive up and check them out. Thanks. Well, now you know what's for Thanksgiving at my place.

We usually buy the Maple Leaf natural selections or greenfield natural. Still 14%- 24% sodium (maple leaf is lower) though but small ingredient list that I recognize.

Maple leaf

Greenfield ingredients
PORK, WATER, TAPIOCA STARCH, SEA SALT, RICH STARCH, VINEGAR, CULTURED CELERY EXTRACT, CANE SUGER, PAPRIKA, SPICE EXTRACT, RICE CONCENTRATE

Neither one is still great for you though…these are just a little less bad.

I don’t care about the ingredients or how much sodium is in them, give me a few Schneider’s Red Hots cooked over a camp fire or on a BBQ and I’m happy. Add cheese and bacon to them and it’s a gourmet meal.

Yes I totally agree with you about those tasty items like bacon. But and that is a big but, I had a life changing experience a few years back.
Nice ride in a buggy with flashing lights, sirens, running red lights, great service on an afternoon with some top notch docs, clean SS tools, I don't think they used Dewalt or Milwaukee, nice big screen TVs but no sports, just some ikky veins pumping. Nice nurses but they sure don't look like the babes pics we have here.
I was a lucky one - but that is long story....
Little changes in life style can make a big diff in life, unless you want a ride on a big stretcher to a nice high tech operating room.
No offence intended just telling my story, it made some changes in "some" of my relatives eating habits, not all, but...
