Been a crazy 2022.

In February I was diagnosed with aggressive skin cancer. My dermatologist ignored it and said it was nothing to worry about. It grew from one to 5 lesions. When I finally got to a surgeon, she went berserk. She did some work, but referred me to London.
That surgeon, a great guy, proceeded to remove 1/2 my scalp. Between procedures I caught Covid. That put me down for three weeks. Dec 5 next surgery, removed a muscle from my back to put on my head.

It appears things are healing, but a long way to go. I’m not as pretty as I used to be.

Going to try and get to some events this year.

Dang that's a journey you've been on with COVID on top of "undiagnosed" cancer - sorry to hear. Sounds like they're finally getting ahead of it and prognosis is good? All the best in recovery.

Holy friggg Kevin, hope things turn around for ya soon that's a scary scenario to deal with.

Also I'm hoping that's not a Windsor dermatologist who's last name starts with an R who dropped the ball. If it is I already want to fight that guy for a previous failing at his job.

Terrible experience for you. Glad you’re on the mend.

I had a bout with Melanoma myself about 10 years back. Thought it was the end of me but a misdiagnosis went in my favour and it wasn’t as bad as I was told.

Make sure you do your follow up appointments for 5 years at least.

Fuck cancer!

UPDATE:

Follow up with Doctor yesterday. Pathology report indicated they got everything. No cancer in the affected area. That’s great!

Now a dilemma. To radiate or not to radiate? We’re talking 5 days a week for 6 weeks! I know people who have had major side effects and others who breezed through it.

So undecided.

Does anyone have experiences with radiation either personally or through their circles?

Whatever you choose Kevin, best of luck. Fuck Cancer!!!

My mom went threw the same decision. It’s not an easy one.
From what I understand. There is a limit to how much radiation you can have in your lifetime. So have to consider age and chance of reoccurrence

In my moms case since hers was so aggressive they opted to proceed but she also suffers from a degenerative neurological disorder. The radiation had an unforeseen effect on her other stuff and the dr called it off after the first couple rounds.

Every case is different. Talk it over with the dr and family. What ever you choose. All the best. Prays are with you.

Happy to hear you’re okay Kev, I texted you a few weeks back, then I heard about your cancer from Adam, so yea I got a bit worried-but I knew you would kick it’s ass and be back! Lmk who this doc is next time we chat in private, I’ll make sure to avoid him if the need ever arises.
All the best for your radiation decision, that really sucks you have to choose, and hopefully you fly through it if it comes to that.

Thanks for all the well wishes.

Surgery went well.

Surgeon wants to ensure this skin graft works so I am being kept in hospital until Friday.
The first dressing is apparently very important.

I have high confidence in this surgeon so am expecting good results.

I just don’t like hospitals.

I'm a fan of straw hats in summer, beanies in winter. My lack of northern coverage is less dramatic though.

I don’t go outside without a shirt, even a pool, and seldom wear shorts.

Hats (big ones) will definitely be the norm.

UPDATE

According to my last CT scan (3 weeks ago), doc says I’m cancer free!!!
Been a long 2 years.

Still another year on immunotherapy (this is normal), but all looks good.

Still a lingering issue with my skin graft, but that’s getting better too.

I have always been a positive person.
Wasn’t sure how this was going to go, but I was determined to push on.

Hoping to bring the 300 to your shop soon to get an alignment done.
Engine is ready for reassembly after complete tear down. The stories that have shown up are amazing!

Sounds good as long as it’s not too low, my lowered G makes it on the rack no problem so it should be fine.
