So I figured these wouldn't work for ever but anyway....
Sometimes they don't retract, or go half way up them back down but always go down when commanded.
Anyone have experience with this?

Looks like the motor itself or wiring to it are most common.
Decent write up how to pull off and service here.

Motors are junk, I've had to manually force them up on several navigators and f150s and disconnect them.

The motors seem ok as in they always try to retract. They get stuck or fully retract they fully extend again.
I'll have to check out that sensor in that one post

Always liked the idea of retractable running boards, but they are in a pretty severe environment to last very long.

^Yep, probably little to no issues in areas without snow.

Sometimes its as simple as lubing the hinges and tapping on them to free and rust or corrosion. I've seen that as well, only problem is, the lube always ends up in the surface where you step.

I've seen longesting lasting results using Krown or Rust Check in a can on the hinges.

I wish I could remove the pins in the hinges, but both ends of the pin are peened over.
Will try to tap the pins free and lube as mentioned, thanks
