have pulleys on my car, finally put a belt on it and hooked up the Alternator, The battery Light is on and even when holding a higher RPM it doesnt go out?

Is it a gaurentee that the BBK U/D on the alternator pulley is the issue, or would a new Alternator be the option? my current Alt history is unknown, its was dirtier then shit and i cleaned it up. Never tried it before now, its been sitting for 2 years.?

i just dont wanna buy a new alt if its just a pulley issue? Seems kinda dumb that BBK will sell something that causes charging issues.

Car has NO/AC or big stero either. I can try the old pulley but i thought i'd ask here first.

Another thing, I painted the altenator bracket so could that effect its ability to ground to the engine?

LOL...should mention.... I have added a couple extra grounds.

1 from passenger side header to frame rails. one from Drivers side engine to frame rail. 1 from altenator bolt all the way to the battery ground post. and of course the factory grounds in there factory harness.

If it's still on with increased RPM, either alt is pooched or you have a hook up issue. Got anyone local that can test the alt if you remove?

What was the problem?

the short, non-explanatory response suggests something embarrassingly simple.

*been there, done that*

I just wiggled the wiring connector at the altenator and it seems fine, I put some dielectric grease on them so if there connections weren't perfect they will be now. I checked the battery and at idle is was seeing 15 volts
