View Full Version : Different (unique) Muffler ideas

I need a 3" offset inlet/outlet for the newest addition to my driveway.

Looking for ideas on a few unconventional muffers. I wanted to try something different than the usual flowmaster, borla, magnaflow etc stuff.

Does anyone know of any? Its for an LS.

Something like:
Sweet Thunders
Spintech
Dynomax VT (anyone use this)
Moroso Spiralflow (used this before)

etc etc.

Thanks

Dynomax VT sound terrible on you tube...

I'm might try some sort of import twin muffler on the Datsun, the Spintech sound so good on a LS

go with the Outlaws man...if you don't mind it being noisy, they don't sound like your conventional flows, same with 10 series 1 chambers and are easy to obtain in 3" configs

Spintech is pretty wide spread, but they do sound really good with the right set up IMO, that's what was used for Eleanor in the remake of "Gone in 60 Seconds"

I assumed that cause you need 3" exhaust that this thing must have Mega HP...so figured noise wasn't an issue LOL

SLP on a an otherwise stock LT1 isn't too loud so it would basically be the same on an LS1 unless of course like mentioned it has gobs of HP

Oops just realized why you need 3", I forgot that they are 3" stock from the factory...makes sense now

SLP also comes in a 3" single resonator...

It does have gobs of hp and high compression though. Enough to make it pretty loud with the stock catback right now.

I'll listen to the soundclips when I get home. Thanks for all the suggestions so far

Once I post pics you will understand the rationale

loud dd = fail

like riding a bike or sled with a pipe; if it sounds ok for 5 minutes that's one thing; but after a few minutes it can drive ya crazy. Cant understand all the numbnuts out there with the open pipes on Harleys or the ultra loud pickup trucks. What - they are suddenly fast?

If you run x pipe it will quiet it down somewhat; 3" will be deeper than usual. Is it turbo'd? That will make it way quieter right away.

I ran a flowmaster 40 series w/ resonator delete on my Jeep for a while. Unbelievable drone at highway cruising speeds. The resonator went back on after a couple of months.. good thing I saved it.

Now the foxbody.. loud! I want it louder!
