Fixing some EVAP issues and need to drop the gas tank. I have a siphon, but can't get the tube to the bottom of the tank. The Ford tech manual says there's a baffle in there, ....and to just keep trying LOL.
Is there a trick to this?

How much gas in there Don?
Perhaps power up the pump wires (disconnect from vehicle side first) and use the pump to drain.

Use Rick's method, Or You can pull the sending unit through the trunk under the spare. Or drop the tank a bit and pull the neck and defuel it from there.

I need to get to the roll-over valve to see if the line from the tank to the charcoal canister is free.

The fuel pump method ...you disconnect the line at the fuel filter?

When i have done it, i have disconnected the line going into the filter put that line into a gas can then power up the pump.

....and to power up the pump you just turn the key on? or do you have to jump the wires to the pump?

In my fox just turning the key on wouldn't keep the pump running, i had to jump wires

Why drain it at all than? You can leave that much in the tank and drop it. A tank can almost be 3/4 full and lowered safely. The filler neck hole is the lowest point but is rather high in the tank itself. And plug your fuel lines or not. Mine had enough slack to leave it connected to the car. Get yourself another filler neck rubber though. They tend to be shot anyways

I simply lie down and try and relax when trying to get gas out. I hear yoga works too
