Hi TMC,
Looking for info on a dash mounted gauge pod for Ol Paint. What do you have and how do you like it?

Thanks
Stephen

Lots of options out there, like the one above.

I have the Speed of Sound pillar pods for my car (no gauges in them yet), but I know they make some for the dash of the newer cars. top quality pieces IMO.

Here's an option from auto meter.

I saw that one as well Scott, and that style was what I first had in mind, but after looking at the Speed of Sound products, I'm liking theirs a little more as it doesn't "look" as big. What do you think?:

Are you not a fan of the Vent Gauges Steve? SVOMACH1 has a couple in his car and they look pretty good as well, and you dont lose the vent functionality

If it was my ride, I'd go with the SOS option. I have their pillar pod and love the quality.

Edit - vent gauges are a great option. More stealthy looking.
You do lose the ability to aim your vents though if I'm not mistaken.

This also caught my eye when looking around the SoS site. I didn't think the pillar pods were on my radar, but I also like these:

Thanks Matt, I didn't think of those.

That's exactly what I have Stephen including the mount for the raptor shift light. Very happy with it.

Yes you do lose the aim option but not air flow with vent gauges

There is always the custom route as well

My satellite radio is currently mounted between the vents, so that custom option is out for me.

Stephen Speed of Sound Pillar and Dash Pods in mine alone with a Roush vent pod. Both excellent products.

I always loved the SoS pillar mounted one. I was going to do that on my 07 GT before. It has that custom look and I love the fact that it looks factory at the same time. Colour matches well from what I see above Doug and Scott nailed it with that Sos pillar.

You win Scott, pillar, dash, vent. Wait, no custom mount? Silly me, I'm sure it's on the to do list.

I have the dual SOS pillar mount but toying with the idea of going to vent mounts. I like the stealthy install.

What gauges do you want to run Stephen?

I was thinking oil pressure and coolant temp.

If your going to put in a pillar pod think about doing a 3 gauge not much more money or work.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you loose the ability to use mechanical gauges with the pilar pod mounts, no?
For me, it's mechanical or bust.

The center dash pod OneQwkStang posted gets my vote. I might be biased as it's the closest looking to mine ;)

If you decide to go with a dual pillar mount, shoot me a pm before you pay full pop for a new one.

Al, don't need any more gauges that I can think of! Beside the NEXUS controller is full no more connections left.

The Roush Vent Pods are pretty cool and not that difficult to install. I recall as with most things the most difficult part was the dis-assembly, I am always afraid of breaking plastic parts when you yank on them. You do not loose any air flow with the Vent Pods, but you do loose the ability to direct the air flow.

You are correct Don, not much room to run mechanical tubing in the pilar.

The center dash pod OneQuickStang posted does look great. I believe for that style it is necessary to drill holes in the dash. The SOS style hooks on at the windows edge and double edge tapes down in front.

Yes some holes are required.

While your factory gauges should be considered anything but accurate, it does tell you if it physically has oil pressure or overheating, in the end, all that really matters.

I went the budget route and got two Roush vent gauge pods on my 05 and mounted them in the centre. Looked clean but beware the chrome rings don't like to removed and installed more than once...... You may also get condensation on the gauges when the A/C is on.
