Thump RRR Tensioner - Worth it?

Well my factory tensioner seems to be giving up up after 116,000kms of boost and cams. Belt is squeeking and noticeably more slack in the belt.

Priced out new FoMoCo Motorcraft at $60 or so USD for the replacement single bolt unit, but when the car gods breaketh, thou shalt look for an opportunity to mod, right?

Since I'm boosted (10 of Vortechs finest PSI) should I be considering the Thump RRR http://www.thumpracing.com/ unit? It looks like a meaty piece of engineering, but is it overkill for my application?

Anyone ever run one? This is my first need to replace tensioner, some guys make it sound like they are wear items on the Centri cars.

Also anyone know if the new Gates blue belts come in a 6 rib 13/16th application for 107 1/8 length? Cant find one for the life of me.

To my way of thinking, stock replacement is more than up to the task.

Sounds good. Will save the money for the big brake upgrade and new shocks the car needs

To me, use enough tension to maintain belt grip, anything more just puts undo stress on the rest of the pulley's, bearings n water pump.

I bought a Thump Idler when one of my stock lower Idlers decided to let go, paid a small fortune for it and it’s now a pencil holder...lol...the belt squeal from the Aluminum Idler was so bad I pulled it off and threw a stock pully back on.

The tensioner might be a different story but as Rick mentioned the Stocker should be more than up to the task.

Dont think that fits my 2V tensioner. Haven't really had slip issues too much. This belt is probably still good but changing it for a Gates Micro V while I'm in there. First belt stripped a rib but it was also a used belt when the blower went on.

Will monitor, hoping the new tensioner lines up as well as stock one did.

Belt noise / squeal with an aluminum pulley, for some reason, pretty common. Vendors I've spoken with, all act like it's the first time they've heard of it.

^^ Yeah its a shame it was a solid well built dual bearing unit just squealed like a banshee.

Odd one doesn't but yes most do.

My Marauder has one and it works great although the set up does differ that the 03-04 cobra cars.
