View Full Version : Sloppy Steering

Hey guys,

Spent the day driving both the Mustang and Z06. Driving the Z06 really shows how bad the steering on the Mustang is. Once the mustang starts turning it's great. However, I'm wondering if their is anything out there that helps 'tighten' up the steering. Looking to reduce the amount of movement in the steering wheel before the car begins to turn.

All advice is appreciated!

That, plus some stiffer shocks/struts, and control arm bushings will also help, you could also use stiffer rack bushings. But if you really want quicker steering you'll need a quicker rack and pinion.

if you don't have full length headers, a MM 4 pt G load brace does wonders for turn in, assuming all the front end bushings are poly, delrin or alum

Plan is to go with Mac long tube headers. I just need a promotion at work ;)

ceramic BBK's are the way to go; way nicer than MAC, and fit, unlike the Kooks, which did look the best, lol
Make sure you size the tubing to your motor and cam/heads - 1-5/8" is good for small mild motors, 1-3/4" is for bigger higher revving motors

Inexpensive, but requires some fab work (welding). Major improvement.
I also have a new set of Energy Suspension poly steering rack bushings for a '89 fox that didn't fit my rack. PM me if you're looking for a set.

Super WIN, I have the shaft in my Fox and it's night and day. I have poly rack bushings, should gone alum but a nice addition to the steering none the less.

I have the opposite problem with my car, responds to the slightest turn, after 3 years only driving my B250 van I have to watch myself. All new bushing/shocks/struts/steering shaft (mine is still rag joint in great shape). I can't believe how well I made my car handle with low budget stuff.
