For those of you looking to do an inexpensive brake upgrade to your 2005-up V6 or 2005-2010 GT, a straightforward swap is to switch up to the larger 13.2" rotors and caliper brackets from the 2011-2014 5.0 GT (non-Track Pack cars). The calipers and pads are the same size, but the increased size and weight of the larger rotors will help them stand up better to the thermal stress, and the brakes will have more clamping force because of the increased distance from the centre of the rotor.

So for this swap we would provide you with two new OEM caliper anchors that include the slide pins & boots, plus two new OEM rotors. This package would be $359 + HST. You would reuse your existing calipers and pads, but if you want to upgrade your pads to something that offers better performance and durability for occasional track days or autocross, we do have Hawk Performance HP+ pads available for an additional $150 + HST. Also available are the Motorcraft branded PFC pads as used for original equipment on the 08 Bullitt and later V6 performance pack cars for $78 + HST.

Please note that the larger rotors will require 18" wheels to clear them, the OEM Mustang 17" wheels do not go over. Any of the OEM 18" or larger wheels will fit, and likely most aftermarket in that size or larger as well... not like the Brembo 4-piston calipers which will only fit with certain styles of wheels that offer generous caliper clearance. We currently do not have these on the shelf yet, but they can be obtained with a one week lead time. Please contact us by phone, email, or p.m. if interested or have questions about this or any other Ford questions that we may be able to answer for you!

You could also let people with 2011+ 5.0's know that if they do the reverse exchange and downgrade to 05-10 GT front brakes they will be able to run several more choices of wheels including various sizes of drag wheels with skinny fronts that won't have to be 17" plus. :)

That's correct ... but we don't like to encourage brake system downgrades in 400+HP cars! LOL

Stephen, if you've found a winter car and won't be running the 17s on your car at any point, we can take back those front rotors you bought to exchange if you are interested in doing this upgrade.

thx,

Ed N.

Bumping up this old thread in case there is any other interest ... I was checking pricing on this swap for NickD, and realized that the parts have actually come down a bit since last year. 2 rotors and 2 brackets would be $325 + HST. A reminder that you need to have at least 18" wheels to clear the larger rotors.

Please contact us if you are interested in these, or any other Ford parts needs you may have.

Another bump for this older thread, anyone looking for a brake upgrade before the spring track day? Rotor and caliper bracket combo still $325 + HST. One set is going out the door this week, but we will have more coming in. The Bullitt pads have jumped a bit in price, but still outstanding value at $89 + HST for the front set.

Get in touch with us by phone, email, or p.m. if you're looking for these or have any other Ford / Lincoln / Mercury parts needs.

Bumping up this old thread in case any S197 owners are looking at their front brakes for replacement or upgrade.

The 2011-2014 GT rotors are an easy upgrade for the 05-10 GT when combined with the matching caliper brackets. Existing calipers and pads can be reused. Pricing has increased slightly on the rotors, so we're now at $356 + HST. Still a great deal, you're getting for a pair of new Ford OEM 13-1/4" rotors and brackets. 18" wheels are required to clear this brake package.

If you need pads, we have the Ford OEM Bullitt version which are $98 for the set, or we can order aftermarket Hawk pads if you're looking for something more aggressive.

Give us a call, p.m., or email if interested.

I speak from experience, this is a great mod for an S197. If anyone has any questions or wants to see how they look, send me a PM.

I was hoping these were still available. I just need to burn off the rest of the rubber on my 17” winter boots. Then I need some stainless steel 18’s to replace them.
