Pretty much stock 97 cobra.
Street cruiser is it's purpose.
Was thinking of installing a cold air intake, but can't seam to find any concrete info on any brands that install while still leaving the strut tower brace.
Is this brace needed?
I have been looking at the AEM Brute Force below, any feedback on this CAI?

Thanks guys

STB brace, yes does add to a tighter feeling ride with much reduced cowl shake (especially on a vert). With that in mind, CAI that will clear it should be the priority when deciding. If it was me, would be looking for one made out of a composite or plastic to help reduce the heat it'll retain. Did you look to see what JLT offer?

I did look at JLT, however, not compatible with STB.

JLT ain't cheap, especially with the dollar, but they offer to colour match to your car for an additional $50 which is a nice option.

So I just phoned JLT, and their intake will require the STB coming off.
Maybe a C&L CAI is the way to go?

Street cruiser: just take the brace off. I doubt you will notice a difference.

Ask a hundred different people, you'll get a hundred different answers. To me, that indicates it's minimal effect at best.

I'm of the exact opposite opinion, you will notice an immediate difference. Go with the CAI that clears the brace or stick with stock + K&N filter.

Can honestly say the MM brace helped a bit in my fox.

Plus it looks sweet.

My suggestion would be take the brace off, see if you notice a difference, and if not, get what ever intake you want.

Use the C&L it fits fine with the factory STB and it makes a difference. http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h302/Bluetoy/mustang/IMG_0945.jpgBTW I have a MMR Intake spacer for a 96-98 Cobra I'd like to sell. Forgot about the C&L, fits well with the brace.

stick with stock + K&N filter.

This. Or the AEM oil less air filter.

If you insist on buying a kit, then I do believe the JLT Next Gen intake fits with the strut tower brace. Not sure if WMS (Western Motorsports) still sells their kit, but that would clear the 96+ Cobra strut brace.

For what its worth....Ford did away with the Cobra tower brace in 98. If you already have or plan on installing sub frame connectors I say ditch the brace and save the weight.

Thanks guys.
If the C&L will fit with the brace, I think that's the route I will take.
