I'm having trouble understanding what to look for when it comes to reading the oil level on this type of dip stick. The 2v 4.6 in my 00 gt had a flat dip stick and cross hatches. This one is a chubby odd looking one.

I'm urgently trying to figure it out because I'm leaking oil and it's visible on the driveway.

This is a pic of it wiped dry

This is after putting it back to get a level reading.

Looks full and clean to me, it should be on the smooth part of the thick end of the stick, just before max being the full mark. It's usually 1L from min to max.

Your problem is your oil is too clean, LOL.

Should be able to angle it in the light to see where the level is.

Its oil from last year in storage I haven't got around to changing it yet since I bought it. I suck at that stuff and I trust rick more than anyone else (myself included) to change the oil. Also noticed its leaking oil all over my drive way and the cardboard I put up inside the garage. I'm hoping its just the oil filter adapter gasket or the oil filter gasket. I'm still new to all this stuff lol

Yes the oil is pretty clean its a nice golden color.

Yup you want it right at the end of the smooth flag part just below where it says max.

Thanks everyone for your explanations :) My buddy also dropped by and took a look at it. Told me it was it was at the full mark which eased my anxiety. Going to address the leak this week hopefully :)

It's leaking while in storage not running? Gotta be a drain plug then. All the oil should be in the pan.

Sounds like the oil pan drain plug is leaking as well or the mail seal could be leaking too?

I really hope it's not the main seal. It's only 42000 km on it. I suspect it's either the plug, oil filter or oil filter adapter gasket
